1991 Ford Tempo GL ???

Faults:

I bought the car for $600 from my boyfriends mom. Her dad had looked at it and kept up care on it while it sat in a garage for 2 years. I drove it home (4hr. drive) with no problems. I then took it to a shop for general look over. Turns out the total repair on the car was more than I paid for it. The head gasket was leaking oil on the wires, new spark plugs, upper/lower ball joints/control arms needed to be changed, wheel alignment, and other stuff. I got some of it changed, others I couldn't afford. Then I moved. While driving home from work one night-2 blocks from home, the battery and alternator went. The car stalls a lot-especially on turns (ex. parking spaces or sharp turns). It's comfortable to sit in, but when I drive it, I feel like I will die. Just recently I found out that the back wheel cylinders will need to be changed-bled and flushed and also the inner tie rods-which this company said could be the same as the control arms-No one knows what's going on with the car!

1991 Ford Tempo 2.4 cylinder

Summary:

A tempo and a cheap running very reliable car

Faults:

There are only 2 things that have needed to be replaced, The Alternator needed to replaced beacause it could not produce the power my awesome stereo needed, and the water pump went out. The driver side automatic seat belt would get stuck and not go back so I just took that out and it is better without it anyway.

General Comments:

I love my tempo, I would trust it anytime it is a very reliable car and has good pick up speed for having a small and low horse power engine. It Handles very well at high speed and on the highway.

I had a 91 Ford Tempo and I loved it. Unfortunally, It died because the engine overheated. (The PC valve was clogged) It was a really reliable car, and it went through the snow like a tank. It looked pretty bad, but even after being wrecked 6 times, it still ran for 13 years. Wish I could have kept it, I know it will be a collector someday.

I love my tempo too. it handles really well for being a cheap car, and hasn't had too many problems. I too have an awesome stereo, but apparently, have a lot less power, because it still works for hours while the car is not on. Tempo's are a great car for stereo's because of their insulation. I can hardly hear my system from the outside, but sure can on the inside.

1989 ford tempo.

The worst car I ever had.

1991 Ford Tempo GL not sure

Summary:

One of the best of older cars.

Faults:

I can't lie... I love my Tempo. Yes, I've had to replace a lot (and I do mean a lot) of parts. The only real complaint I have about it is that the clock works, but doesn't light up at night.

General Comments:

It's a great first car.

1991 Ford Tempo L 2.3L 2 doors

Summary:

Eat gas, won't move

Faults:

Air conditionning not working, as for most Tempo's.

I had to buy a new alternator and have the starter rebuilt since the car wouldn't start.

I had to change the whole exhaust line since rust when through it.

I had to change the coil springs on the front wheels since they were broken when I bought the car.

I had to change two brake hoses, due to rust again.

General Comments:

This car eats way too much gas. More than twice the Toyota's we have do. In summer I'd need about 13 liters/ 100 kilometers. That's almost as much as a pickup truck! In winter (and with gas at 87.5 cents) I won't reach 250 km with 30$ worth of gas.

The car is very rusty, the floor is eaten through.

However, there is no risk of it being stolen, the insurance is very cheap and nothing expensive has broken in the last 6 months (except a brake hose and routine brake maintenance).

The trunk is massive and still has plenty of space even with my 2 sub woofers :)

I had a 91 Tempo that was way more hassle than it was worth. It broke down constantly and was a complete safety hazard to me and everyone else on the road. And of course the A/C worked in the winter and the heat worked in the summer.
