1992 Ford Tempo GL 3.0L
Summary:
Excellent, reliable car if rust free
Faults:
Nothing engine wise the 3.0 litre is unbreakable. Rust killed this one. Floor shifter rusted through the floor. Very rust prone. Factory muffler system excellent. Poor struts. Handles like a full size car. Not the best looking. Poor headlights, very dull. Leaked oil, from the main seal. Struts leaked oil.
General Comments:
Good fuel efficient car, very peppy for the size. Tried to kill the motor and tranny, but unsucessful. Would not want to quit.

You got a poorly-maintained car, which can happen with any make year or model. It isn't the car's fault. Every item you mentioned is preventable by routine maintenance. Now, if you were driving along and the roof came off, that would be a symptom of a bad car. I'm prejudiced, I guess--I have owned my '93 Tempo V6 since new, have 218,000 miles on it (including annual trips from Florida to New England and back) and with routine maintenance the car has been largely glitch-free. Not a Rolls-Royce, but hit the interstate with a good station on the radio and the cruise control set to 70 and you can drive all day fatigue-free. Pushing the gas pedal to the floor in this car makes me forget any thoughts of trading for something newer!
