1984 Ford Thunderbird 3.8 V6

Summary:

The best car ever made by Ford

Faults:

Not many things have gone wrong with this car. The only problem I do have is I have a broken band in my transmission, but who needs reverse.

General Comments:

This car handles great and is great for cruising. I've had the car over 90 and it never got away from me.

The seats are wonderful; it's like they form to your body every time you get in the car.

1984 Ford Thunderbird Elan 5.0

Summary:

Oh, I can't say that here online!!!

Faults:

I owned a 82 t-bird, shortly, then I inherited my moms 84 t-bird, ford I will give you credit for a auto that's hard to kill, however the amount of money that has been dumped into that t-bird between my mom & myself, Ford should have just given me a new car.

I contacted Ford Motors years ago to find out if by some slight chance that there had been, maybe a possibility, that ford had a recall on it.

Hey, it's a "LEMON", deal with it. It left the assembly line a lemon. No way I will ever believe that I got the only lemon t-bird ford made.

So here it sits in front of my house, with only 95000 miles on it, automatic tran won't shift out of 1st gear.

The car use to up & die while driving it, didn't matter where I was at or if I was doing 30 or 70 mph, it would just "DIED". Never found anyone who could tell me why or what to fix, then after a few years, it stopped dying.? Go figure! So, for the worst problems I've had to constantly deal with was that "control selector for ac/heat, that thing has been changed soo many times, I finally just left the cover off that area, 2nd headache is the steering column, the switch box, that too has been a nightmare & the replacement part is crap & its too big & it keeps breaking & everything locks up.

Its been such a pleasure to own this ford car, I will never ever, ever own another ford auto. Those old sayings about ford- "Found On Roadside Dead" or "Fix Or Repair Daily", sure covers ford products for me.

Thanks ford for the 12 years of constantly costly me money & one major headache!!!

I could list every part that's been repaired or replaced on that car, but why? If you own a t-bird & it still runs & hasn't cost you your weekly check, more power to ya, as for using their replacement parts, the worst thing they ever did making 2nd products.

General Comments:

You can't kill it... As many problems that t-bird has managed to have, its has finally gone full circle. Some repairs are into the 2nd time around, but its those 5th & 6th timers that a part has had to be replaced, I just don't get it!!

The car had get power, good on gas, ac has crapped out 3 times now, switch box & selector for ac/heat, bought brand new every time, didn't matter, the parts still went out in s shorter time frame then the original parts.

I had an 85 ford T-Bird Elan and the only trouble I had with it was that dieing no matter what you were doing... Didn't happen often, but it always restarted right back up.. Other than that Ain't nothing ever broke on it.. I loved the power with good gas mileage it had.. It had over 150,000 miles when I sold it.. College is so dang expensive...

1984 Ford Thunderbird 2 door coupe 5.0, V8

Summary:

My high performance dream

Faults:

When I bought the car the rod and main bearings where bad, so those where replaced. The seats are worn, and there is no head liner. The power steering pump is weak and/or the rack and pinion is going out, and the bearings in the rear end are bad. The fuel injection was also bad when I bought it, so I put a carburetor on it.

It is now 3/24/04 and the the motor is on it's last leg, so I am putting a rebuilt roller cam 302 in it.

General Comments:

When I first bought this car I didn't think much of it because so many things where wrong under the hood, but after driving it about 3 months, and geting to know the car, I love it and will never get rid of it. It now has a roller cam 302 whit shorty headers, and H pipe off a 91' mustang, dual exhaust, an elderbrock aluminum high rise intake, and a 700cfm 4bbl. Let me tell you after a month and a half of work and $1500.00 later it is the best and fastest car I have ever owned.
