1993 Ford Thunderbird LX Davey Allison edition 5.0 H.O. R code
Summary:
These are very good cars and are now fun to play with, people should really buy these cars!
Faults:
Engine fan went out at 86000 miles, easy fix, picked one up at my local auto parts re-cycler. $8 off of a 15,000 mile wreck.
Water pump pulley got hit up, needed a new one, could not find one. Went to my local auto recycle, found one that will fit off of a 4.0 SOHC V-6.
Thermostat problems, easy fix.
Basic tune ups are what really keeps these Fords running.
Parts are very hard to find since they quit making this model. Go to your auto part re-cycler or junk yard.
This car has been really good to me too.
General Comments:
Well let me explain what a Davey Allison T-bird is, it was a special edition Thunderbird that Ford put out in remembrance to Davey Allison's death. He was a famous Nascar driver. When he died so did the sprit of the T-bird. Thus here came this bad 290 HP Thunderbird. And I got this for a deal of only $5,929 and the best thing is collector status of being one of 2500 made.
As for the engine it was a 5.0 H.O. with the 1993 cobra heads and cam. The computer is a little bit different - it was set up as a cobra computer unit, but for the automatic transmission. It has a standard T-bird intake and other T-bird goodies.
Overall this car has been really good to me. I have really took pride in my little T-bird. I have had a new paint job on her, new 17 inch enkei rims. This car was really taken care of even before I got it, the original owner died and he was very old. This thing has never really been run hard.
I did add some performance products.
- Extrude hone intake.
- 65 mm throttle body.
- Equal length shorty headers.
- Tuned exhaust.
This thing really has been good to me. It has good street manners. Goes from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, and hit the 1/4 mile at 13.10 @ 102 MPH.
The seats are great for those long rides out of state, for a car almost being 10 years old the interior has held up very good.
I don't think I will ever trade this thing in. This year I am getting my first new truck/car, it is going to be a Ford. But I will park my Thunderbird next to my Torino and enjoy it on good sunny days.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

As a Davey Allison team member, I am one of the very lucky ones who has had the chance to come across the 1993 Davey Allison Limited Edition Thunderbird and have purchased this sleek looking Ford. It only has 13,000 original miles on it, so it is in excellent shape and I will never part with this sentimental car.
