1999 Ford Windstar LX
Summary:
Get the Extended Warranty - You'll need it!
Faults:
We purchased the van as a program vehicle in 2000.Since then we have had.
The rack and pinion replaced twice in less that 1 year (luckily covered under warranty)
The transmission replaced ($2552.37-not under warranty)
The air bag light and check engine light are continuously on. (these have been checked out and supposedly fixed-the lights didn't come back on until we left the dealer parking lot)
General Comments:
The van is pretty comfortable and is still running.
The next vehicle I will buy will be a van.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I Purchased my 1999 Wind star April of 2002 with 43,000 miles on it. (used) The first week the check engine light came on. I took it back to the Dealership. It was checked. Within a week the light was on again. That's the first of my problems. I do oil changes when require. I also change my transmission fluid. My most recent problem is the flashing O/d light and sluggish changes in gear. I pull off the road and called AAA club to be towed to the dealer where. I purchased the car. The next day, I was informed. I needed a new transmission at the cost of $2,600.00dollars. This my second Wind star. I previously owned a 1995 Windstar. I had the same problem. I like Ford Motor Company. My other Car 1980 Grand Marquis and 1984 Lincoln Town Car. I never had any with these cars only these two 1995 & 1999 Wind star Vans. The reason I'm writing this letter so your Company could check if there is a problem the transmissions on these Wind star. I don't want to change the " Ford" brand. I have the car in AMCO transmission Shop costing $2,150.00 with 82,400 miles. I'll appreciate your comment and response. Thank you. Lore--
