Faults:

Emergency brake never worked. Had it fixed several times.

Electrical system also never worked well. The interior lights had a mind of their own.

The intake manifold went around 80,000 miles.

The alternator went around 90,000 miles.

The starter went around 93,000 miles.

The windshield wipers stopped working around 105,000 miles, and I was going to have to pay $1800 to get them fixed. That was the final straw, and I sold it on the spot.

General Comments:

It's terrible. It was constantly giving me problems. The first one I owned wasn't great either. I honestly don't have a clue what made me decide to buy another one.

It left me stranded twice. It didn't shift through it's gears very well. Sometimes going up a hill it wouldn't shift down at all, and I had to shift into 2nd manually to avoid stalling.

Faults:

Strobing lights - seems to be fixed by rotating dimmer wheel a few times.

Noisy radio - seems to be fixed by cleaning pins in sliding door.

Transmission leak at 95000.

General Comments:

Very satisfied so far.

Wish Ford still made minivans.

Faults:

Had to replace brakes at 80,000.

New tires quite often.

New intake manifold gasket.

General Comments:

This has been a very reliable van for me and my family.

Faults:

PS pump. Replaced with used one for $75.00.

General Comments:

I have been very fortunate with my last 3 Windstars.

Have never replaced any fluids other than oil changes every 15000kms. (tranny fluid, coolant etc. is original).

I do a lot of highway driving so I extend my service intervals.

Now at 338.000kms my battery light came on so I'll have to get a new alternator.

I would have liked to buy a new Windstar, but Ford stopped making them. Dealer told me to get a wheel alignment, but I get over 120,000kms on Michelin tires so I told him no way.

I can't believe how reliable this vehicle has been.

Not sure what I'll buy next.

Faults:

Intake manifold rail control clip.

Some rust on lower part of vehicle.

Rear tailgate handle sticks.

Front wheel bearings.

ABS module.

General Comments:

I love the keypad on the door that unlocks the doors.

The electric lumbar is good for long trips.

The few problems I have had with it have been easy fixes.

The dealer fixed the ABS module and the wheel bearing before I took delivery.

The stereo CD player is very good quality

Seats are very adjustable, and easy to remove for carrying large items.

Faults:

Replaced rear shock @ 16,000 miles.

Left flipper window motor @ 17000.

Overflow canister at 30000.

Both front wheel bearing assemblies @ 53000.

Rust on left quarter panel in front of the wheel, and inside the bottom of both front doors.

Wire in driver seat poked thru and ruined 3 pair of pants.

Replaced the plenum isolator bolts @ 59000.

Ignition module @ 60000.

This van looks and runs good until something goes because of the crappy engineered components. Probably on purpose to save costs.

I should have bought a Chrysler van or Toyota or Honda. Will never buy a Ford product again... regardless of what Ford advertises...

By the way, this piece of junk is made in Canada. So it is a foreign car.
