1992 Geo Metro Sedan 1.0

Summary:

Today's VW Bug. A great value

Faults:

The darn thing just keeps running. I've had to change the front wheel bearings, put new brake pads on it.

General Comments:

In the used car market it is a super value. I have three of them right now, a 92 and two 91's and they all run good. One of the 91's has 240,000 but I've done an engine rebuild on it, my daughter drove the heck out of it for 5 years. If these had been around in the 50's and 60's VW would not have sold very many Bugs. This car has a heater and AC that works.

I certainly agree with you. I have a 1999 Metro, and it's a shame how unfairly people treat these wonderful little cars. I wish they still made them.

281,000 km on a 1992 Geo Metro Sedan (Canadian) 1.3L 4cyl and still going strong. GM could look back at these sedans and relearn a thing or two. Only trouble is the stock tires, 165/65/13, limited choices and way too expensive. Should have stuck with the 12inch as on most others.

Summary:

A reliable, inexpensive sports car

Faults:

No lie: a bolt flew into my car -- which the dealer said was possibly from the side of the road -- which destroyed the carburettor, and consequently the engine needed to be rebuilt. Augh!!! Beyond that, all I do is change the oil every 2,500 miles and it's good to go.

General Comments:

This is a great economy sports car, and very inexpensive (I recently read the car was $11,000 new in 1992, but still worth about $4,000 now -- a fairly good return for an eight-year-old car). Fun to drive and handles curves very well!

I too have a 1992 GEO Metro and it has given me nothing but good service.

When I bought it used it had approx 75000 miles on it and now it has 161,000 miles and still runs well. I did have a lifter go bad, but after having it fixed it runs well.

It is a good economical little car and especially a good work car. Don't know if I will ever wear it out.

Last Summer, my dad gave me a '92 Metro convertible that had been sitting neglected in his field for quite a few years. After the (obviously) necessary repairs, it has given me no problems; it normally gets 45 mpg; I drive it both on the highway and around town, AND, (you boys knew this was coming) it's soooo CUTE!! It's cheap to repair, gets great gas mileage, easy to park (important for those who work/play in an overcrowded metro area). It's not a car for the power-hungry, of course, but if you're searching for cheap transportation and dependability...

1992 Geo Metro LSi

Summary:

If you are looking for a reliable and efficient car this is it

Faults:

The rear wheel bearings have gone out on both wheels. Had to get both of them replaced. One of them three times because the dealer didn't read the manual correctly and tightened them up too much.

General Comments:

Very reliable car and great gas mileage. Besides what is mentioned above, all I ever do to maintain it is change the oil and rotate the tires.
