1992 Geo Prizm LSi 1.6 (6) L4

Summary:

Awesome!

Faults:

Multi metal radiator blew. New all copper from GEO cheaper then aftermarket.

Alternator and batteries twice each. 1st time due to accident and tech left wire twisted and bare. Shorted to radiator and blew. Pretty sure the batteries and next alt went bad because they are the wrong part.

A/c compressor and drier (110,000) Seal on compressor , but after 10 years! :)

Door handles. ALWAYS due to guest yanking the crud out of them. $16 replace (x2).

Windshield eyelets due to lime in water (use bottled now on all cars!). $34 in '95 <$20 last year.

Tranny started leaking. Found bolt missing and others loose. Probably lube shops fault.

2nd starting to shutter, but not till 105000.

Headliner fell in TX heat (removed) ;)

Ground on brake lights is mounted to plastic and loosens up ONLY when I go to get it inspected. LOL. Soldered and fixed!

General Comments:

The only trouble not caused by a repair tech was the radiator!

Everything else was normal wear and tear and environment.

I love this car and drive it everyday. No leaks no smoke.

Fixed a/c my self for $350 to R134. Just as cold as before.

Friends make fun of me, but I tell you for 11 years and still going strong I just give them the finger. Not to mention I know have remote start on the car to cool it down ahead of time and just laugh cause they can't afford or know how to do it.

1992 Geo Prizm

Summary:

An excellent school car or work car for anyone

Faults:

The car needed the heads fixed. It was a fluke and the dealership paid for nearly all of the repair costs.

The back seats are small.

General Comments:

The car is very reliable.

It has excellent gas mileage, 300 mile to one tank of gas.

I love the car. I never had anything terrible go wrong with it. I would be driving it still, if I hadn't been in an accident.

1992 Geo Prizm

Summary:

An A+ for this long lasting car

Faults:

Had to have radiator replaced at 103,000 miles.

General Comments:

Love this little car.

Very dependable and gets great gas mileage.

Car is quick and quiet.

Paint job has held up great. Minimal interior damage except roof cloth is coming off. I tacked it with upholstery tacks and it's fine.

I love my Geo it gets me where I want to go and it is a fast car (being a teenager, this is important)

My Geo is a '92 it has been in my family all this time, it has little to no rust the interior is in very good condition, and very few things have had to be replaced. I really love my car.

1992 Geo Prizm LSi

Summary:

A great little car when it has no problems with it

Faults:

Front passenger door handle broke.

Alternator went, antenna broke, the hood latch gets stuck everytime it opens.

The driver's seat belt gets caught often when it gets wound up.

A great car that has very few problems that can be dealt with.

It is extremely hard to install new speakers in both the front and rear, also changing parts.

Tends to be more difficult than usual cars.

General Comments:

The best little car a person can drive. The worst possible car to repair, although repairs are seldom, they are a pain.

I know what you mean about replacing the speakers. It looked like the stereo shop had to disasemble half of my car to replace the rear speakers. That's an exaggeration, but it was a two-hour job. Great little car though.

I agree, this is the best little car I have ever owned. I drove it to Canada last year (April, 2003) and had to replace the alternator and 1 belt. A year later I had the head gasket blow (That was fun to replace), had to replace the front wheel-bearings, and both trans-axels. So not a lot of repairs for a 14 year old car. I've still spent a lot less in repairs on this car than I have on some of the new model vehicles that I have owned.

I've owned a 90 and now a 92 Prizm and before that an 86 Nova. I've done 90% of all the work on my car and have found that the belts and the exhaust are the only somewhat hard things to replace, but more time consuming than hard. Only pain in the butt part is correcting what the average joe machanic fixes incorrectly.

My mom's car is a great smooth drive, but replacing the alternator in it is a pain in the____. It's starting to give us problems more often maybe, because it getting old and we were not the first owners. Overall, the car was a great experience while it lasted.

I owned this car for 8 years. Put on 126,000 miles. And aside from the normal wear and tear, this car rocked! So small and nimble, I could outmaneuver just about anyone on the roadways. I'm talkin 5 boroughs of NYC and Jersey City and Bayone. Just a pleasure to drive. I only WISH cars were made more reliably now. The problem now though is that even the simplest cars have so many bells and whistles, that there is always something going wrong. It is going to be quite a chore finding a new car. I just don't trust any manufacturer, and that includes Toyota and Honda.

My alternator AND front passenger door handle died as well!

Other than that...it's been a great car for the price I paid. Peppy.
