1991 Geo Tracker 1.6
Summary:
This is a cheap, tough, sporty toy!
Faults:
Just a little through rust in spots on the floorboards, surface rust on bottoms of doors, but the car was previously a beach toy and was full of sand and shows remnants of salt.
Typical wear and tear, rattles and mechanical looseness of a 16 year old car.
Haven't had to repair anything yet; I have only owned it one month.
Was told by the used car dealer that the Tracker was towed behind a motor home, that the rear end was replaced and that the high mileage was mostly tow miles.
General Comments:
Great sporty fun to drive! Nimble, with a tight turning radius. Kidney-buster, not suitable for a soothing cross-country tour.
My $1200 winter toy (to keep my 37 year old Fiat Spider out of the snow and salt!)
Better than the Ford Escort wagon on gas.
Would not let it be my teenager's car because of lack of airbag, slight tendency to rollover and poor crash ratings.
Surprisingly well-made comfortable seats for an otherwise cheap interior.
Fun convertible top. Inconvenient to use back tailgate though because you have to unzip the rear window to swing out the tailgate.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

There are several brands of receiver hitches that can be bolted on your Tracker. Draw Tite is one of them. Most are 1 1/4 receivers instead of the 2" used for add on carry space. You can however, tow up to 1000 lbs with the Tracker on the 1 1/4 receiver. I have a 3500 lb trailer that I pull, but it is equipped with electric brakes and a controller in the vehicle. There are also replacement rear bumpers with trailer hitches built in. Trail Tough I believe has one.
