Faults:

Blown head gaskets, blown transmission transfer case seals, severe oil leaks (main and real seal) fuel pump failere (2), computer failure, severe rust near gas tank and on the back door. Interior seats will wear very fast and rip very very easy!

General Comments:

This car would be good for a first timer, but be ready to pay a lot of repair bills! If you have a computer failure, be ready to spend a good amount of money to find a replacement ($800 and up). Heaters also have trend to shut down when you need them the most in the winter. If you leave it outside in extreme cold around 10 degree's or below... remember to not locking your doors or you won't get them open for a long time due to the lock's freezing up very easily.

Faults:

75,000 miles - Timing belt, which should have been replaced @ 50,000/per service manual.

77,000 - New soft top. The factory top had shrunk in the back and could no longer be secured.

80,000 miles - O2 Sensor.

100,000 miles - Valve adjustment.

Since then, nothing other than regularly scheduled tune-ups have been done.

General Comments:

The first thing I did after purchase is, replace the stock air filter with a K&N high flow air filter and noticed an immediate power increase. I even gained a few mpg which, I lost again when I added larger A/T tires and wider rims, due to the extra weight.

This little truck will out climb and out crawl, (even in 2wd) most other stock SUV's I've run across on the trail.

It rides a little rough, even for a compact SUV, but, it does have a pretty strong suspension for such a light vehicle.

Faults:

New distributor cap at 200,000 miles.

New ignition components at 205,000 miles.

New locking hubs at about 210,000 miles.

Of course, new tires & wearable parts throughout...

No other major components have needed replaced.

General Comments:

This is a great vehicle!

Nothing has gone wrong that you wouldn't expect for a car with 200,000 miles on it.

I've never had any major engine or drive train problems.

This car is fun to drive off-road and especially having the low range 4 wheel drive, it's surprisingly capable.

This is a tough little car - I've been in two wrecks (neither of which were my fault, of course!) and one was a rollover into a large ravine - and I'm still driving it today! There was no major damage other than dents and a smashed windshield, and I can attest to the fact that the RPS works well in this vehicle.

I've been upside down in my Tracker and it still runs great!

Faults:

125,000 Changed the Alternator

130,000 Bearing's in left back wheel

140,000 Fuel Pump

150,000 Fixed crack in the seat

160,000 Welded door back on

170,000 Computer failed.

General Comments:

I have to say for the most part I have really enjoyed owning my Tracker. I Have a two door hard top and I really like the looks of it. It seems to be having a lot of problems the last 20,000 miles, but the car is 12 years old, that is to be expected. I'm sure with almost all of the electrical problems now fixed, I should enjoy much better preformance.

And, It is great off road.

Faults:

This truck hasn't given me any problems, really. The only thing I can complain about is a cracked distributor cap, which only cost $13 to fix.

General Comments:

This is a great truck, and it really does have a greater capability than people give it credit for. A Tracker can climb inclines up to 55 degrees, which is amazing. The ride is not the best, but it's a truck, not a car. The Tracker really has a lot of off road potential, I've been in mud up to the axles and I just switched to 4WD and drove right out. It's a lot of fun to drive, too. Like a big go-kart.
