1995 Geo Tracker 2-Door 1.6 Liter Fuel Injected

Summary:

Good value for the buck

Faults:

I bought this tracker used at 108,000miles. It looks as if there was a problem with the doors, but for me they work good. Changed the headlight bulbs for brighter ones. Auto parts stores have cool blue lights available for Trackers. Also replaced the front struts.

General Comments:

This 6'5" person can drive the Tracker with ease. Fun to drive. It drives good off-road and in the snow. It's a little harsh to drive on pavement with 3 inch cracks and really hard to drive on windy freeway speeds. Also notice it does not do well on freeway mountains. There is a lot of accessories available for the Tracker nowadays. Still love my Geo Tracker!

1995 Geo Tracker 2 DR. 4X4 convertable

Summary:

Super fun cheap runner

Faults:

Transmission leaked when I first purchased the car. The dealer fixed it as it was within the 30 day time frame.

General Comments:

When it rains and freezes the door locks now freeze. The back window blew a hole in it while driving down the road. The soft top is the original and is very worn. Snow will fly in sometimes when driving. All in all it is a great vehicle. I would buy another.

1995 Geo Tracker 4X4 2 Door Soft top 1.6

Summary:

It is a decent find for the price

Faults:

I have had very few problems with this light Jeep so far. My heater motor blew (no doubt it was working hard beacuse of frigid weather here in the Northeast). The cost to repair that was low, it ran me about $135.00, so I cannot complain.

The door hinges do seem to "squeak a lot", so I tend to spray them with WD-40, so they won't fall off on me.

General Comments:

I am on the highway a lot, and anything over 65mph, you need to be cautious, also taking the ramps you need to slow down considerably, as I have felt I would tip a few times.

Otherwise, I love driving it, especially in the summer, it is fun and has some "pep" to it for such a small Jeep.

1995 Geo Tracker 4x4 1.6

Summary:

Good bargain for the price

The same thing with the Check Engine light happened with me... It came on at exactly 80,000 miles. I had it checked when I got an oil change, the mechanic said he could not find anything wrong with it, seems to run fine.. would not shut off even after battery was disconnected! Overall, I love my little 4X4, so I don't mind the light (as long as it runs like it should).

1995 Geo Tracker 1.6

Summary:

Great bang for the buck

Faults:

No major problems so far, with the exception of:

Leaky rear main seal.

Clutch cable adjusting nut won't stay in place very long.

General Comments:

Great little truck, very cheap to maintain and own. 35 mpg on average.

Don't expect the same mileage from the automatic version though, as I'm told it's somewhat less.

The seats are supportive, but not great for long trips, but neither is the Jeep for instance, another vehicle in its class.

The stock radio has some neat features, but is underpowered, and the speakers blew when I turned it up.

A great little truck at a great price these days. These things are so fun to drive as well!

I've owned a '95 Geo Tracker for five years now, and aside from a bad drivers door hinge and an odometer that stuck at 39,099 miles only routine maintenance has been done. Although it's an automatic with California emission control, it's got good low-end torque and 25/29 city-highway in the hills where I live. The only complaints I have are 1. No 4 speed transmission 2. No limited slip differential. It gets pretty hairy on ice and wet roads even in 4WD. All in all, I'm very happy with her at 90,000 miles.
