2001 GMC Sierra SLE 8.1

Summary:

Love it

Faults:

Went in for burnt out driver side daytime running light, faulty crank position sensor, faulty weather stripping, and the worse the cold start knock. All covered under warranty, except the cold start knock.

General Comments:

Overall I am very satisfied with the truck.

2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT 6.0 liter

Summary:

Mighty

Faults:

Multiple alignments.

General Comments:

This is an excellent vehicle which still is very fun to drive. Through regular maintenance this vehicle still rides like new. The acceleration is excellent and the ride is as smooth as a Cadilac. It also plows with ease. Good job GMC.

2001 GMC Sierra 1500HD 6.0

Summary:

Definitely a niche product, but well serving to those who require this type of vehicle

Faults:

Nothing. The truck has not failed us in any way so far.

General Comments:

However, I do have a gripe with the manufacturer. I paid an additional premium for "extended run" coolant and differential fluid. The standard service interval for the differential is 7500 miles. Now that I am above the 7500 mile mark, the dealer suggests changing the differential fluid. I have made 2 web inquiries and 1 voice inquirie regarding what the "extended run" fluid equates to I'm mileage. But the manufacturer has avoided providing me with a definitive answer.

2001 GMC Sierra Loaded Vortec

Summary:

The vehicle is junk!

Faults:

This truck is loaded to the hilt and rides like a luxury car. That is the only good thing about it.

The engine knocks when it's cold, uses oil and idles rough.

The transmission does not down shift properly and causes the engine to lug.

The front end will not stay lined up.

All four cheap firestone tires had to be replaced at 18,000.

I hate it and plan on trading tomorrow for a Dodge Turbo D.

I guess if you can't drive the best the 3rd best will have to do.

I have 4 things to say...

1 is your engine is supposed to knock when its cold (see #4).

2 Whoever is reading this comment, please look and see that this person used to drive a Toyota 4X4 (did you also know that when toyota first started importing these pieces of junk into the united states, they were called "Toyopets").

3 I'ts too bad you got a lemon. I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4X4. It is a great truck.

4 Engines are supposed to knock when its cold because the engine gets cold when you park it overnight and when you go to start it the next morning, the engine is cold and it needs time to warm up.

HAHAHA! Engines are supposed to knock when they're cold? Really? How long have you worked for GM's marketing department?

Use synthetic oil & add Lucas oil treatment if you're having a cold start knock; should take care of it.
