Faults:

Fuel level sender, power steering pump just started leaking, driver's side heated seat turns off after a short time.

The transfer case was replaced before I got it along with the U joints. These transfer cases have a known issue of the pump shaft wearing on the case. There is a remedy for this.

General Comments:

I love this truck, plenty of towing power, comfortable, reliable.

The only thing I don't like is it sucks up gas like no other. But a 6.0 engine, 4:10 gears, it's kind of expected.

Faults:

Bought this truck from a GM dealer. The only item that has needed replacing was a part involving the steering unit.

Oil changes is the only real maintenance so far. A tune up, radiator flush and trans service is coming up.

I had been without a truck a little over a year (Dodge Dakota sold with 274,000/93 model). Both my wife and I found the truck on the dealer's web site, so went and looked at it, and bought it.

The ride, the Bose sound system with the sat/radio is very nice; I get 17-19 mpg on the road, which is about the same with my 05 Ford Expedition.

All in all, I really like my truck.

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the truck; oil changes, and a radiator flush and refill is next. Everything on the truck works as it should (2wd).

General Comments:

The wife really likes the ride (so do I).

It came well equipped, especially the Bose sound system.

I get a solid 18mpg on the hwy, that's OK, my Expedition gets the same.

Faults:

The throttle pedal seemed to giggle when I first accelerated.

After a trip to the dealership, this turned out to be a self test for the throttle position sensor.

General Comments:

My Sierra has been extremely reliable so far.

This vehicle is very smooth in both city and highway driving as well as towing a small utility trailer.

In my commute to work, which is more similar to city driving, my Sierra averages around 16.5 miles per gallon. On the highway, I have seen around 20.5 miles per gallon. These figures are very respectable for an extended cab 4x4.

Faults:

There was a recall on the tail gate support wires, with which we had no problems. A notice was received and they were just replaced without question or any problems.

The back of the front driver's seat pops, when you first lean against it, like it is made with cardboard inside. Overall, the seat is comfortable, I just question the long term internal quality of the seat.

General Comments:

I am overall very happy with this truck. My neighbor bought a Ford F250 and my brother-in-law bought a Dodge 3/4 ton. This GMC truck is better by far.

The inside of the GMC cabin is put together better than the others as there are not any gaps between the panels and the controls don't look or feel cheap. The only interior complaint is the gap between the center fold down back of the bench seat. Papers and other this items that are put on the seat fall through this area and onto the floor of the back seat.

The ride is much smoother than the other two pick-ups. You feel fewer bumps in the road and it corners well. Why sacrifice comfort for durability. This truck has both.

The 4x4 is a wonderful feature and the pulling capabilities have been strong. We pull a 16' stock trailer with 2-4 head of cattle at a time (about 6,000 lbs of beef). It handles the highway grades and back road hills with out a problem under a load.

The owner of an older Dodge said he averaged a little over 20 miles per gallon with his diesel, which had over 60,000 miles on it. This pickup averaged 19.8 miles per gallon (diesel) on the open road (250 miles of highway) with five passengers and a cargo full of camping gear and musical instruments for a high school band.

Faults:

The front differential was sweating with in the first 5000Km.

General Comments:

I have the 4.3L V8 with an automatic transmission and a 4:10 rear end. This combination delivers tones of power for every day driving and handles my 4700lb trailer very well.

The interior of the truck is very luxurious and comfortable. This truck is a pleasure to travel in and is great on long road trips.
