1998 GMC Suburban SLT 5.7 Liter
Summary:
Really reliable
Faults:
My transmission was defective and went out at 50,000 miles.
My transmission went out at 114,000 miles and was rebuilt.
Fuel Pump went out at 100,000 miles.
Axle and Ball Joints were changed at 130,000 miles.
Driver's side seat is very bad. The seat isn't very strong.
General Comments:
I haven't had any major problems with the exception of the defective transmission.
All issues I have had with the car were at or above the 100,000 mile mark, which is expected.
I certainly got my money's worth with this car.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have a 1999 GMC C-1500 Suburban. I love the car and what I can do with it--but the repairs/failures have me tearing my hair out. Won't start--paroxysmally--new alternator/battery under warranty, then fails again--even with towing to GMC--can't diagnose. Now on battery #3--only 65000 miles, 3.5 years old! And alternator #2 failed while starting out on 1500 miles trip--just happened to be able to coast into shop to replace for second time. Now in addition have also had failure at least 2 door lock motors/actuators and the door handle on interior snapped off. Further?--can't get it aligned--5 trips to Dealer, 2 other auto shops/tire shops who are reputable--still pulls to one side.
On top of all of that, who ever thought to put the cup holder right in front of the A/C vent? block air and cool your coffee in one fell blow.
Unfortunately, no other vehicle fits this size to replace it.
