Summary:

This Truck Rocks-Couldn't Ask For More!

Faults:

Fuel Fill Tube rusted through caused leaking at fill up. Replaced for $40.00 and 1/2 hour done myself.

Tye Rod and Pitman Arm normal wear and tear for a heavy 4x4. Replaced by previous owner.

Rear U-joints to be replaced today at about $40.00 and probably about 1 1/2 hours doing myself.

Front Brakes need to be replaced Rotors too (warped).

Water Pump starting to show signs of leakage. To be done soon.

General Comments:

This truck is great, plenty of room for camping trips and family errands. Fold the seats and can haul plenty of building supplies.

The 350 V8 gives plenty of power for take off and pulling out in traffic. Going 70 down highway step on it and before you know it your @ 85 to pass.

Gas mileage (ouch) She's thirsty. Rated for 12 city and 15 highway. I currently am getting 16 to 17 1/2 mpg. I feel that this is real good for a truck of this size. I just wish that gas wasn't 3.00+ per gallon.

The front brakes mentioned above is normal for this truck. I have heard that the brakes are too small for a vehicle this size and cause easy warping.

Truck is very comfortable and I am very pleased with it.

Do not get me wrong.. It is 11 years old and has it faults, but nothing that I feel is other than normal things that naturally go wrong.. I expect problems, but I only paid $3700. for it and take all with a grain of salt. The truck is paid for and all repairs do not add up to what a payment would be.

I have read a lot of reviews on this site and it seems that people will buy a used vehicle and expect it to be perfect. All used vehicles have issues, to those people, get over it or buy new.

Summary:

Best $/mile full-size SUV on the market

Faults:

Rear Differential at 115000 miles.

Transmission at 130000 miles.

Drivers seat frame cracked prior to ownership.

General Comments:

Exceptionally reliable and has never left me stranded.

Very smooth and quiet running gear.

The most comfortable (long-distance) ride I've experienced in any vehicle.

Minor repairs and maintenance are BY FAR less expensive than other major brands.

1995 GMC Yukon SLE 5.7L Gas

Summary:

I will maintain this vehicle as long as it is practical to do so and would buy another in a heartbea

Faults:

A universal joint (on the rear drive shaft) failed at under 72,000 miles. This was the only issue that occurred under the extended warranty.

The overall braking qualities of the vehicle, while adequate, leaves no room for error. I attribute this to the design of the braking system and not an anomaly of my particular vehicle. The front brakes have required special attention in using the proper disk-pads when replaced. Over the course of the 10 years and 170,000 miles that I have owned and driven this vehicle, the rotors/pads have been replaced twice and the original rear brakes are still in service. A respectable record.

General Comments:

The driver side air conditioning has always seemed inadequate (although effective). I believe that this has more to do with the design of the ductwork than a fault with my particular vehicle.

While performing all requisite duties of a truck, this vehicle is amazingly comfortable, as demonstrated on many long trips.

The oil has been changed religiously every 3,000 miles. The air filter is replaced as necessary based on observation. The fuel filter has been replaced twice; once at 90,000 miles and the second time at 165,000 miles. The spark plugs were changed at that same interval.

Gas mileage has remained constant during the life of the vehicle; 13-15 mpg for local driving and 16-19 mpg for highway driving.

1995 GMC Yukon SLT 350 5.7L

Summary:

This vehicle has been superior to any other I have purchased for quality and dependability.

Faults:

Transmission - The transmission gave out at 140,000. Repair costs were about $2000.

Brakes - I have had a full brake replacement twice - once at 80,000 miles and again at 185,000 miles. This inlcuded pads, rotors etc. Each brake replacement was about $800.

Alternator - The alternator failed at

190,000 miles.

General Comments:

Overall this vehicle has exceeded all expectations. The vehicle has never left me on the side of the road and has been dependable in the most demanding driving conditions.

I have lived in extreme weather conditions over the time I have owned the vehicle from living in the mid-west with mornings well below zero to the southwest where afternoons can exceed 110 degrees. It has never overheated or broken down and never not started. The 4 wheel drive has always been dependable and has very good torque to tow boats and trailers or tow other vehicles out of snow or mud.

I have also driven the vehicle cross country from Washington D.C. to San Diego and back 4 times and each trip was without incident.

The oil has been changed like clockwork and all fluids and filters are checked and changed regularly.

The car rides very well over long distances and has a very roomy cabin and very comfortable leather seats.

The car still has a show room like appreance with excellent paint and interior.
