1999 GMC Yukon Denali 5.7

Summary:

Great, dependable U.S.A. made car

Faults:

Rear end had to be replaced at 85,000 miles.

Transmission had to be replaced at approx. 125,000 miles.

Alarm goes off every night making two beeps, then stops.

Heated seats no longer work.

Rear audio controls for rear passengers no longer works.

I've had a a problem with all lights going off for a second or two, as in flickering on and off several times a night, included are the interior and exterior lights, (headlights, qtr. lights and dash). Sometimes other drivers will get angry because they think I'm signaling to them. Don't know what to do before I'm left out in the dark, and before someone comes and punches me in the face. Thanks, and I hope to get an answer on my problem.

General Comments:

I am very happy with this vehicle, wanna keep it forever. It's got 255675 original miles, and I'm the only owner, still runs great.

You seem to have had a lot of problems early on for a vehicle such as yours. I assume you pull something heavy a lot. We have never had differential or transmission problems with any GM, including one that went 277,000+ miles. Of course we never pull or haul anything. Our use is very light-duty.

We love our 2003 GMC SUV, and plan to keep it to at least a quarter million miles (it has 100,000 miles this far without a single repair, not even brake pads). The interior, exterior and mechanicals in ours are all like brand new. When it is cleaned up, it could pass for a brand new one.

These vehicles are built like tanks. A compact Japanese car totalled itself against the rear end of ours, and all ours required was buffing off the imports inferior paint that got on our bumper. I feel very safe in knowing that my family is driving one of the safest, best built vehicles on the planet (according to a recent crash study of all vehicles).

Summary:

This car looks good, but I've had many problems with it

Faults:

I bought this vehicle used in 2002 --- since then I will list some of the problems that I've had with it, and I can't remember the mileage when they all happened.

Driver side heater seat inoperable.

Passenger and rear seat work when they want to.

I've replaced complete brakes - 90,000.

Wiper motor replaced - 80,000.

Heated mirror - 80,000.

Air conditioner and condenser went out - 95,000. Had it replaced back in 2005. Every year since then, I have to have the system recharged because I can't afford another 1,500.

Vehicle rides very rough, and you feel every bump in the road.

When I accelerate, it sounds like some sort of "leak or miss" in the exhaust system.

Had to replace the radio, because it worked when it wanted to.

Replaced the security system, because it would not allow the vehicle to start at about 95,000.

Vehicle shakes when I apply the brakes.

Driver's door had to be slammed in order to secure it.

Rear main seal leaked at 88,000

Fuel pump replaced.

Paint is peeling.

Air conditioning never really cools the vehicle off, and there is always a hissing noise coming from the vehicle when I run the AC.

Had to replace the radiator at 105,000, and I'm sure there are others that I can't remember.

General Comments:

This truck is very pretty, but it has cost me too much money to count, and it is not a comfortable ride all, you feel every bump.

The suspension is loose; if you hit a pot hole the vehicle almost sways off the road. I've tried many different things - I put bigger tires and rims on, but it only made it worse.

Oh, I had to replace the front differential at 102,000 - that cost me 1,900 dollars at the dealer.

Also, the rear hatch leaks when it rains. Had the seal replaced at 100,000, but it doesn't help - window doesn't close properly.
