Faults:

Had the transmission rebuilt around 110k, but I had plenty of advanced warning that something didn't seem right before the trans failed. I wish I took it to a mechanic when I felt that something wasn't quite right with the car. I drove it like that for a month or 2, then it just failed. But I got it fixed and it's perfect now.

Oh, there's only 2 real major issues that are/were a major flaw from the manufacturer. The first problem is that the bolts on the manifold were made with substandard metal, so I got the first one replaced I think it was 2014. Now, in 2016, 2 more bolts just broke so my car is at the dealer getting all of them replaced with a better quality bolt. I've researched this problem and it's a common issue, but it was not a recall.

The only other issue I had WAS a recall and that's the ABS sensors go bad and I got them replaced the first time as a recall, but they had not failed. However, they did fail in 2015 and then failed again in 2016. I live in NJ so I do know that salt could gunk them up and I cannot say for sure, but the 2015 failure was repaired by a regular garage which means they could have used a bad quality aftermarket part or the parts they put on were defective. I went to the dealer to have them fix them in 2016.

General Comments:

It's a great, reliable car that I feel safe driving. Mine needs body work because I've got that Chevy rust thing going on along the bottom and rear quarter panels. It's my fault it's so rusty because I wasn't diligent with washing it more often and waxing especially because of the road salt/NJ winters. It's very comfortable to drive and it's so reliable. The car has a lot of integrity and it still pulls my extremely heavy all steel horse trailer with my 2 huge horses with no problems.

I'm shocked that Landcruiser got first place on this site. I had one before my Yukon XL and I love my Yukon much more. Landcruiser towed the horse trailer horribly even with modified (Tambren) suspension and a weight distribution system. You can't tell you're pulling the trailer in the Yukon. With the Landcruiser it was such a strain I actually felt like I was going to blow the engine towing with the Landcruiser. The Landcruiser was a much stiffer ride than the Yukon and the Yukon is much more luxurious feeling all around, from seats to steering to suspension and pick up speed.

Faults:

My fuel pump went around 270,000 KM.

My four wheel drive u-joints were just replaced at 310,000 km.

I changed both front wheel hubs at 300,000 km.

Lights on controls for heated seats are burned out.

Lights for windows and power door locks go on and off, ever since I had the immobilizer installed.

General Comments:

The truck always starts and runs great for me.

It is a comfortable truck.

The truck has lots of power for every thing I have pulled with it.

Faults:

I got a 2001 GMC Yukon XL. The driver side floor would get wet when it rained but not always. After the second or third time of getting wet. I pulled the carpet up and saw a rubber grommet that had play in it. I put some flowable windshield silicone around it and that fixed the problem.

I had that problem with the "black death" with the a/c. Clutch was making noise when accelerating. One day the high pressure hose blew clean off the compressor.
