Faults:

Not much has gone wrong with this car, I've replaced the entire exhaust except for the catalytic converter and I've gone through a couple of CV boots, those are the two "major" parts that I've had to replace.

The power windows are getting sluggish, but a little lube should fix that right up, and one of that four tail lamps has gone out.

There was also a tear along the seam on both front seats when I got the car, but that was not a hard thing to fix and has since been repaired.

General Comments:

This is a great car to be your first.

It has never broken down on me and has always gotten me to where I need to go.

It has enough pep to keep me happy and handles great.

I love the look of it and always look forward to driving it again.

Faults:

My seats started to wear out and rip so I ripped them out myself and put nice newer style of seats in. Stereo was ripped out the second I bought it and put an Alpine mp3 player in with 2 Alpine subs and 4 really nice 6 1/2" infinity speakers. There is a little rust gathering under the rear wheel wells, but I am guessing that this is expected from an 86. I mean come on it's an 86 right? Besides that never really had any problems with it. Great little car to get to and from school/work.

General Comments:

This car has never steered me wrong yet and I recommend it for a first car to anyone looking to buy cheap yet reliable. Have some fun with it too you can make it look nice even being an 86 model. Put new seats or seat covers in and paint your dash or trim different colors.

Faults:

There's a little rust around the rear wheel wells, but that's to be expected from a Honda, isn't it?

Original thermostat replaced around 90,000 miles or so.

The paint has started to fade from years of parking outside.

The alternator died at just over 105,000 miles, then again six months later, but was replaced the second time free of cost by the shop. It was probably a faulty alternator that they installed in the first place.

The feeder hose to the gas tank just started to leak yesterday. I haven't had a chance to repair it yet, so I don't know how difficult a repair it will be, but from looking at it, it shouldn't be too bad.

The automatic transmission tends to skip second gear when accelerating, however has not proved to be a problem, other than suffering gas mileage.

General Comments:

Despite the recent repairs I've had to make, I still feel this car is a great model. With my commute (50 miles a day round trip), there are few cars that I would feel confident in driving other than my Honda.

The interior design is very comfortable and everything still works, including the power windows and cruise control.

The engine is, as commonly described, bulletproof, and even with my transmission problem, I still get 30 mpg on the highway!
