1991 Honda Accord LX 2.2L 4 cylinder

Summary:

Agile, reliable, and loads of fun!

Faults:

The trunk leaks excessively through the tail lights. This has been labeled as a manufacturer's defect.

The power antenna is a pain. Mine broke twice, and the antenna motor died. $250.00 to fix that. Just go to any local store and buy a basic antenna to prevent hassle and cost.

Light rear end, the rear drum brakes loved to lock up on emergency stops.

Funny low-back seats are not for everyone.

General Comments:

This car was amazing. Absolutely amazing. My father purchased this car originally, and put the first 150,000 miles on it, and passed it down to me.

As a high school car, I beat up this thing ruthlessly. Even though I dropped the transmission at 160,000k, the clutch was everlasting. The cars suspension is still original and working mint. The brakes were replaced only twice, throughout all 175,000 miles thanks to the light weight body.

The coupe was fun, I personally loved the huge windows on a sunny day. Made a sun-roof almost pointless!

The overall performance was excellent for the cost. The eager motor, and excellent manual shifting made this car a blast. I managed to take 80MPH turns on a windy road with minimal under-steer and tire squeal. It's a great used car, especially for the youngster!

1991 Honda Accord EXR 2.2

Oil pan needs to be replaced as I am going through a lot of drain plugs.

General Comments:

This car is incredibly reliable.

Very responsive engine.

Handling is magnificent.

Superb gas mileage considering the amount of K's the engine has on it.

Everything in the car works including the air conditioner.

1991 Honda Accord DX Coupe 2.2L SOHC 16v 140hp@56k rpm

Summary:

Good

Faults:

* Radiator hose has leaked.

* Needed tire camber adjusted.

* Shakes in reverse.

These problems are probably from running it too hard. My Accord has been airborne. It can beat mostly stock Civics, Neons, Cavaliers, Celicas, Jettas, Saturns and runs even with auto V6 Camaros and Firebirds. You just need to leave it in drive 1 when you take off, then move the handle up to drive 2, then 4 when it starts to slow down.

General Comments:

The Accord is my first car I've had for about 2 years. Very happy having a model DX coupe, it's rather rare.

Added an intake and Apex exhaust. Added clear headlights, corners and bumpers. Looking for Altezza style lights for the back. Also added carbon fiber "H" emblems on the front, back and steering wheel.

Although, I wish it were stick. The sport button is always on... the Accord is the only car I've seen one on.

Very sporty and reliable. I'm happy.

Power steering rack/pinion.

Transmission computer (172,000 miles).

CV joints.

Alternator problems.

General Comments:

Purchased in 1991 for $26,000 with 40 miles on it - drove it until 176,700 miles with only mild repairs..... Where can I get another one?

Just gave it a K&N filter and it drove like new!

Re the driver's side window track. That was a horrible pain for mine -- never rolled up right, and wind scream. Well, the dealership just lubed the rubber and it rolls up much, much easier & won't need replacing after all.

1991 Honda Accord LX 2.2 litre 16v SOHC 4 cyl

Summary:

A great all around car with a bullet proof drivetrain

Faults:

The main relay.

Distributor.

General Comments:

This damn thing just won't stop running. Over 200k miles, and still starts quick, and runs smooth.

1991 Honda Accord EX 2.2L SOHC 4 Cyl

Summary:

Sweet

Faults:

Nothing other than the automatic shifter is rather stiff to remove from park.

General Comments:

The car is very sporty. It is a great car because it is very sporty and fast and does not cost much to keep running. It is a big welcome change from the massive 4.3L I used to drive.

Shifter cable requires replacement. Corrosion in the cable case makes them hard to get in and out of park only.

1991 Honda Accord LX 2.3

Summary:

One of the best for the money

Faults:

Bought it wrecked, replaced tranny making a rubbing noise from crash. Rusting over rear wheel wells. Sports light blinks now after replacing tranny... that's all I can think of.

General Comments:

Will last forever (or as close as cars come). Makes a great first car for someone and fairly easy to work on and get to things. Honda makes a very, very reliable car. Only wish I had it in manual instead... that's my ONLY regret about that car.

1991 Honda Accord ex 1.6 liter

Faults:

Chronic problem with the power antenna freezing up in cold weather causing the antenna shaft to stick and eventually bend, which could strip the antenna motor. Aside from this just normal maintainence.

General Comments:

Excellent vehicle, I bought it new in the fall of 1990 and it now has 125,000 miles on it & it runs like a top.

1991 Honda Accord SE 2.2

Faults:

Absolutely nothing.

General Comments:

Great car. Even better when you add an aftermarket exhaust and intake filter and header. Gives it more personality. Also, drop the suspension with lowering springs 1.8" and you've got a great handling car as well.
