1997 Honda Accord LX 2.2 liter

Summary:

RIP Accord: You saved my life and took your own

Faults:

Left front ball joint at 95,000 miles.

New radiator hose 105,000 miles.

A/C recharge 110,000 miles.

Headlight bulb burned out at 100,000 miles.

New Exhaust 95,000 miles. B pipe cracked. 170 bucks new from cat down.

Exhaust again at 97,000 miles. Rear ended by kid. New Honda lifetime exhaust replaced by Honda.

New paint on rear bumper from crash.

Previous owner who drove it to 92,000 miles was anal on service. Every little squeak brought it into the dealer, and all maintenance was done early.

Only problem I saw was the car may have been stolen at one time. Honda records show this car had ignition replaced once, and it stated that parts for steering column were scattered throughout the car. That is my opinion.

Steering for some reason had a rut in it...? Never knew why. Only when driving on clover leafs.

That is all, after driving it till it was killed.

General Comments:

The car is very nice and handles great.

Bought her used for 4000 at a dealer after trade. Was originally $6999 US.

Never gave us a problem that made it not drive.

Last night the car was destroyed in a crash and I walked out without any scratches. It looked possible that I could have died or have been in a serious condition, but I walked out without a problem.

The one to replace this one will be a Honda Accord. I own four already and one Civic. After having my life flash before my eyes in the crash, I will only trust Honda. Not only because it saved my life, but it offers affordability and safety for everyone.

1997 Honda Accord LX

Summary:

Still love my car!

Faults:

I've noticed a lot of Honda's between the years of 1995 - 1997 have paint problems. For example, the paint is coming off and the car looks horrible and old. Is this an issue with the dealer? Does anyone know of any callbacks on this matter?

Also, where and what kind of freon can I put in my 97 Accord? At night the air works perfect, but during the day, it's just blowing hot air.

Good thing I had a 1994 Accord. It was very different from the 95-97 Accords. I had 258,000 miles on it before I sold it and it looked great, but had a little rust by the rear wheel wells.

My 1997 Accord has the Mystic Blue Pearl paint job and still looks great. So bad paint job? I am wondering what you mean?

1997 Honda Accord EX-R 2.2L SOHC VTEC

Summary:

Solid and reliable

Faults:

All age-related stuff:

I have replaced:

-Muffler

-Rad

-Fuel lines

-Brake lines

-Tune up parts: wires, plugs, cap and rotor

-Tires.

The A/C doesn't turn on, so either it's out of freon or the compressor's gone. Haven't bothered to fix it.

General Comments:

I bought this car in early '06 as a second car. It's a five-speed EX-R, which is pretty hard to find. Quite fast and solid for a ten-year-old car. No rust and the interior is mint! I often get asked what year it is, since it still looks new.

In the year I have owned this car, I have put about $1500 in new parts in it, but I expected this simply because the car is old and has quite a few miles on it. I'm confident that there is quite a bit of life left in it, because it still runs very well, starts up without a fuss every day, and has never left me stranded.

I would highly recommend this car as a used car purchase, but make sure to have it thoroughly inspected by a trusted mechanic before buying one. I encountered one before I bought mine that had serious problems even though the dealer claimed it was fine.
