2000 Honda Accord LX 4 LITRE

Summary:

So far so good!!

Faults:

My transmission went at 144,000 kilometer which the dealership took care of. Other than that I have had no problems with the car.

General Comments:

The coupe is extrememly comfortable to sit in and great to drive. The only thing that I find weak about the car is the brakes.

2000 Honda Accord EX V6

Summary:

Good car. Fast and good on gas

Faults:

My transmission died at 106000KM. Honda fixed the problem by replacing it under extended warranty. I received the letter two years ago stating that my car may may have a part defect in the transmission system and the car warranty was extended to 6 years /160K. Here I am 7 years later with the transmission problem and I was pleased to learn that Honda extended the warranty again to 92 months/ 160 K. 5 stars to Honda for a service!

However, now my SRS light is ON all the time and I am wondering if my OPDS failed. I'll take it to the dealer to check it out. I learned in this message board that this problem might get covered under the extended warranty. For the 5 years of ownership I had to do some extended job on the brakes and just regular maintenance.

2000 Honda Accord EX V6

Summary:

A great automotive achievement since the Model T!

Faults:

The SRS light was on, but it was free because there has been a recall on that light. Other things in the dash panel weren't lit, but a trip to the Honda Dealership fixed everything for less than $70. The leather seats have some dirt that won't come out unless it is really worked on.

General Comments:

This is my first car and is way better than my parents Subaru's. Those cars have gone down the drain! I love this car and will not hesitate to buy another when I buy my next car.

2000 Honda Accord EX 2.2

Summary:

Long live the Japanese!

Faults:

Wheel bearings went at 80,000, mechanic said that was very early for this car... I still believe that my car had its Kms rolled back... Hard to tell with a Honda when it drives like new to 300,000k's.

Besides that, it has been bullet proof... Runs like a sewing machine...

General Comments:

This is my first Honda after owning a few domestics and a domestic never again... These Japanese blow the competition away... Reliability at its finest. Its too bad I need a pick up truck now and I will cry when I have to sell my Accord... Will buy another in the future.

2000 Honda Accord EX

Summary:

Good car, but could definitely be improved in some areas

Faults:

The transmission had to be replaced. Honda was kind enough to supply the transmission due to an extended warranty (though the car was 5000 miles over), but I was responsible for labor ($800).

Check Engine light continuously comes on. The EGR valve has been replaced and the port has been cleaned twice. Check Engine light comes on within hours of being reset.

SRS light now on. Have read and been told it may be a defective sensor, but no recall has been issued. Not sure how I "broke" an internal sensor for my air bag. Not sure that's even possible.

Gas pedal sticks when first started and driven.

Moonroof will vent, but no longer slides back ALL the way. Only cosmetic and not worth paying to have repaired.

General Comments:

This is a great car. There have been some issues, but all-in-all it's not bad. Great speed for a 4-cylinder car.

Not a good car for families, but definitely has trunk space to spare.

I wonder why so many people are having trouble with their Transmissions and EGR valves. I have two 99 Accords (1 V6 and One 4 cylinder) and I have had no problems at all with them, except for the Delphi alternator.

It’s interesting that you specifically mention problems with the DELPHI alternator as if that absolves Honda of any responsibility. The car is just the sum of the parts that the manufacture selects. Each one must meet their specifications and requirements – including quality! For most people, it’s a HONDA alternator, and if you go to the dealer it has a HONDA price tag too. By the way, can you name any parts on your car that are supplied by a US company that have not caused a problem?
