1994 Honda Civic EX 1.6 litre VTEC

Summary:

Best car ever

Faults:

The biggest problem I have is with rust; the darn thing is rusting everywhere, so go to Florida (or somewhere with no salt) to avoid this.

The exhaust seems to rust out every 2 years. Besides that, all I've had to replace are the radiator, distributer cap, and the A/C, which was broken when I bought it.

This car is resiliant and more reliable than many newer cars.

General Comments:

Pros: Highly reliable and attractive looking car. I got a black coupe with tinted windows, a Vtec engine, and a 5 speed for $3,200.00, and thought I was the luckiest man alive.

I'm about to graduate from college and thought of upgrading to a BMW or Mercedes, but I don't think I could let the car go. It's no Porsche, but it can keep up with traffic easily.

I love the exhaust tone and the interior is classy and still contemporary. The car looks new to this day, and people have asked if it's a 2001.

The mileage is the best part, and I can get everywhere without losing half of my pay cheque at the pump.

For value, a '92-'95 Civic will look good, perform well, and is cheap.

Agreed. decent cars. If you want a BMW then go for a late 90's 3 series coupe :)

I also have a 1994 Honda Civic Si coupe, it is extremely reliable. Mine has a few modifications as well, such as full exhaust system, header, intake, and reflashed computer (speed limiter removed), short shifter, and lowered 2 inches plus many other suspension modifications.

The car makes 125 horsepower stock, maybe 135 now if I'm lucky. I think that your statement about being faster than new Sis is absurd, a new Si has 197 hp, and runs 14.9 in the quarter mile. My car with those modifications plus good driver pulls off a 16.0 quarter mile time. Stock is (16.6). Unless you're talking about newer Sis such as 1997 models that have the exact same engine but heavier body. The only way you are faster than a new Civic Si.. is if you have swapped the engine with an Integra vtec engine such as a b18c. Or you have a turbo or supercharger.

1994 Honda Civic DX Sports Coupe

Summary:

Love, love, love my Honda!

Faults:

The side defrosters do not work very well.

General Comments:

This car is reliable, dependable, and a dream to drive. I have had my 5-speed manual Civic since 1994 and still have the original clutch!

I have had regular maintenance on the car without any major parts breaking. There is a bit of rust and the side defrosters don't work that well, but otherwise, I would highly recommend Honda to anyone looking for a reliable yet fun car.

1994 Honda Civic DX 1.5L

Summary:

Fuel efficient, reliable, and fun. My miniature Japanese RV

Faults:

No problems with this car. Ever.

General Comments:

This car has been incredibly reliable as a daily driver, on long roadtrips (up to 15,000 miles at a shot), and for trips to the mountain to snowboard. Fuel economy varies with driving style. On the highway with cruise control, it hovers around 40mpg. In the city, driving like a maniac, it still gets 30+mpg. I have thought many times of trading it in, but the bluebook value is approaching zero - and the car is unbeatable. You can't buy this kind of economy today. If you own one, take good care of it, and it will last forever.

1994 Honda Civic LX Special Edition Sedan 1.5L 4 cylinder

Summary:

Can't kill these things- great economy

Faults:

Small rust holes almost 1" in diameter on both sides by the bottom corner of the rear doors.

Seat starting to show signs of small tear at the seam.

General Comments:

I got a really good deal on this machine with 55,000 KM on it and only one previous owner. It is very quiet for it's age. and the engine is practically no maintenance other than oil and filter changes. Great gas mileage at around 45 MPG on the highway. The clutch has a nice precise feel to it and the shifting if very smooth. It hugs the road very nicely. The interior was designed well and has a good use of space without sacrificing quality. The paint looks good after 12 years of Canadian northern weather, which few hairline scratches caused by careless washing. The engine peppy around town and plenty sufficient for the highway, though begins to struggle on certain curvy inclines. An automatic transmission would not be recommended. I know friends who have put well over 300,000 kms on Civics and they keep going without a problem. Plus the price depreciation is fantastic.
