1995 Honda Civic EX Coupe

Summary:

Runs cheaply and without problems

Faults:

The oil gasket was leaking very little bit, it was normal for a 13 years old car, cheap repair and not absolutely needed. Air conditioning gas refill.

General Comments:

This car runs great, very cheap to mantain and low consumption, in my civic it was around 32 mpg in city and around 38 mpg in highway (if you don't run very fast). The back seats are not very roomy, but the front side is roomy and the sunroof is great. I recommend this car because is very reliable and pretty cheap for the quality.

1995 Honda Civic EX 1.6 liter 4 cylinder

Summary:

Buy a Honda, it will last forever!

Faults:

Replaced master cylinder (only about $150 and apparently is a common problem with civics)

Normal wear and tear things such as brakes, tires, oil changes.

The air compressor locked up... but who really NEEDS air that badly?

Only other problem is that sometimes the car won't shift out of gear because there is something wrong with the brake fuses... the car thinks it doesn't have brakes so as a safety feature it refuses to shift. this has been a SMALL problem though.

General Comments:

I bought this car about three and half years ago and have put hardly any money into it. At almost 140k it is still going strong. it gets hot in the summer because of the lack of air, but other than that this is the most reliable car I have ever owned. All of my friends swear by Hondas and I will never buy anything, but one... unless I can somehow afford a Lexus!

1995 Honda Civic DX Sedan 1.5 Liter

Summary:

Excellent first car or commuter for a cheap price

Faults:

At 74,000 miles, had to get the ignition system replaced.

At around 70,000 miles, the weather stripping around the windows has started to fall off.

General Comments:

First off, I love this car.

I have a 1995 Honda Civic DX automatic with a 1.5 liter I-4 engine. It only has 102 horsepower and 90 lb.ft. of torque. Even with such little car, the car is deceptively quick. It's great for in city driving, because the small size makes it easy to navigate and parking is a breeze.

Also, it being a Honda, I get incredible gas mileage, even when I drive my car like a maniac around town.

We've had the car since we bought it off the lot in 1995, and it has never done us wrong. The closest thing it's done to breaking down was having trouble starting. The mechanic said it was the ignition system, so we had that replaced for a little under $500. Besides regular maintenance, that's about all we've spent on the car.

I haven't driven many other cars, but even without ABS, the brakes on this car are amazing. There is this two step braking procedure, which I just love. You press the brake pedal down, and after a while you hit resistance. Normally, I stop there and the car brakes wonderfully. When I need to brake hard, I just press down harder and the car still comes to a stop without sliding. This car has disc brakes in the front, and drum brakes in back. However, honestly, I never found that to be a problem.

All in all, I love this car and it has never steered us wrong. I would recommend a Civic to anyone who is looking in the economy market right now. The only thing is I wish it had is a tad more power.

1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe 1.5L

Summary:

Winter beater turned daily driver!

Faults:

Replaced muffler. That's it.

General Comments:

This car was originally purchased as a winter beater. A year later, I've gotten rid of my daily driver and am using this every day.

Not to sound like a broken record but the engine really is absolutely bulletproof. No, it's not going leave other cars in the dust when the light turns green, but the engine revs very willingly and the car is very nimble. Great in the city and on the highway alike.

If I have to nit-pick at some negatives, I'd say the engine can get a little noisy in the upper RPMs. I chose the DX model since I wanted a simple no-hassles car. The less features, the less there is to break. The only additional non-DX feature I have is A/C, however now I wish I had power steering too!
