1995 Honda Civic DX
Summary:
Great car, short life
Faults:
Late in the car's life we went through tires quickly, though this was b/c of lack of maintenance.
The awful roads of Houston, TX may have contributed to needing a new axle, cv joints, and a few sets of new brakes.
1995 Civics all have a problem with head gaskets warping, as a Honda specialist (not a dealer) told me. This will mean expensive ($1000 or so) repairs, if you think it's even worth it. Though I expected to have this car for four or five more years, it only made it 178,000 miles - every car that my parents have owned over the past 10 years has survived longer, including Fords and Oldsmobiles. Unfortunately, the days for your 95 Civic are numbered.
General Comments:
The car, so long as it survived, was great. Highway mileage was excellent -once registered over 45 miles/gallon! A fun car - I can't wait to buy another one.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Maybe you needed to take care of it more often, and do fords even make 170000 miles? lol I don't think so. and head gaskets are not a common problems on civics your mechanic is lying, maybe you didn't change the oil enough or treated your car bad. first time I hear about civics having bad head gaskets, and still not as bad as ford's.

Honda's do not have problems with head gaskets warping. In fact it is very very difficult to blow a head gasket on a Honda.
As for tires and CV joint problems, roads and maintenance. Also, did you replace with factory CV joints? or discount auto CV joints? It's a proven fact that genuine Honda parts are far better than the aftermarket ones.

Mine blew. Luckily it was during the test drive, and the guy fixed it before I bought it. Great little car. 95 Civic DX.

Hey now, my 95 Civic has 465,000 miles on it and my 'learning to drive' kids have driven it into ditches, trees and what have you. It has been airborne, soaked, floated, hydroplaned, spun out on ice and so on, I love this car! I am so sorry you had a bad experience.
