2001 Honda Civic EX 4 cylinder.

Summary:

Super reliable and cheap to own

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX, automatic transmission, 2 door, that I bought new in Sept. 2001. It has just been great! No problems at all! I have about 53,000 miles on it now, and I take it in to the Honda dealer for service every 7,500 miles.

Among other things, they rotate the tires, which is saving me money, as I still have the original tires, and they just said they are wearing perfectly, and no need to replace them for awhile.

I took it on a long trip and got about 36 mpg. No problems with struts, seat or anything.

Gas gauge reads empty when it isn't, but that just saves me from running out of gas.

2001 Honda Civic ex

Summary:

I completely regret the purchase of this Honda

Faults:

Passenger side window molding came off.

Driver side power window switch went out 2 times.

Power stearing pump had to be replaced at 10,000 miles.

Constant problems with suspension and stearing vibrations.

Manual Shifter came loose had to be fixed.

General Comments:

The performance of the v-tec engine is wonderful and besides the appearance it is the only thing I like about this car.

I am continually trying to find out why there is a vibration and why the car handles so rough when it hits the slightest bump. I have had the tires balanced twice the alignment checked twice and the tires replaced at 10,000 miles with no results.

Seems to me that all the people that have the V-TEC motors are the ones having all the problems.. I have the 1.7 117 HP jobbie in mine, and I've had nothing go wrong with it. Cheers..

My 2001 EX- I've had a smell when a/c comes on ever since I bought it-like dirty socks, but the dealership said they could never smell it-even though everyone else can-also more concerning is at 61k miles I'm noticing everyday that the car has trouble when shifting gears-it's an automatic. It revs high then finally catches and switches gears--again I brought it to the dealer and they said they couldn't get it to react that way with them. I'm frustrated they are able to just say its not happening and there is nothing you can do.

2001 Honda Civic LX-G 1.7L SOHC

Summary:

Already starting to pay for itself

Faults:

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with the mechanical aspects of this vehicle.

General Comments:

Dials and knobs placed well.

I like the shift to 3rd option.

Air Conditioning works quite well.

The only thing I don't like about the ventilation system is the fact you have to have the Air Conditioning on to have the windshield defogger on.

I just wanted to say that I use this car as a delivery vehicle, and with the price of gas at almost a dollar a liter, I am still making money where a lot of my co-workers are suffering.

I too have had the mysterious right-front noise when going through puddles, and was told by a mechanic I trust that it is the ABS sensor 'shaking itself dry'. The only problem I have had with the car is the window tinting on the rear passenger side is peeling off, but this is an easily remedied problem. Overall, I am very impressed by this car, and barring any unforeseen difficulties, I will be driving it about 80,000 km a year for the next 10 years.

Hi... you want to change the 'rear defrost' and 'A/C' being on at the same time. Check out this link:

2001 Honda Civic LX 1.4 (I think)

Summary:

A worrying problem with the front struts

Faults:

I had to have the front struts replaced at 20k (2 years - I don't drive a lot). The car would skitter in turns at mid speeds (e.g., 40 mph) and started to make clattering noises when I went over even small bumps. I am a careful driver.

General Comments:

Luckily the replacement was under warranty, but this is not what I expect from a Honda. My last Civic was great, while this one is good, but I worry that this may become a recurring problem.
