General Comments:
I have owned my Civic since they first were released in Sept of '05.
This car has been a excellent car. Mechanically I have had no problems at all; no major breaks, repairs, nothing has gone wrong with the engine or tranny, it still runs as good today as it did the day I got it, with just routine oil changes and care.
The only issue I seem to have with the car, is the exterior. The paint started chipping the 2nd year I owned this car, and has since continued to slowly chip here and there. I also got a small dent below the passenger door that has started rusting, but we get snow 4-6 months of the year, and it sits very low, so I guess that is to be expected.
Another issue I seem to have is with tires. I go through tires very fast; about every 1 1/2 yrs, and no I don't drive like a hot rod. Put Pirelli on last Sept, and so far so good.
For it being a small car with low profile tires, I think it handles exceptionally well in snowy conditions, given the low pro tires. Rainy conditions is another matter; it has a tendency to hydroplane, even in small puddles it seems, but other than that, I think it handles very well.
The inside is kinda cozy for a family of four, but works. Not very spacious, but then again, you figure that out before you buy, right.
I can honestly say I love this car, and I hope it lasts. 88,000 miles and going very strong.
Oh yes, and I can't complain about the gas mileage.

Don't buy an 02-05 (I hope you meant 01-05) Civic. Those are rubbish. I used to work for a dealer, and we'd have to repair those ALL the time. They fall apart and suck. Can't say much for the new ones though.
