1999 Honda CR-V LX

Summary:

The Very Best All Around Town Transportation For The Money!

Faults:

Radiator had to be replaced.

Honda white paint isn't the shiniest.

Original Tires are not very safe.

General Comments:

This CR-V is awesome for around town transportation.

Reliable, comfortable and inexpensive small family vehicle.

Ride is noisy and not well suited for long distance driving.

The resale on this vehicle is excellent compared to most SUVs in same class.

1999 Honda CR-V LX 2.0

Summary:

This car is slightly above average

Faults:

The cable for the passenger side interior door latch has broken twice.

The engine threw a valve at 65000 miles and ran on 3 cylinders for a while.

The power windows have little raising power left.

The check engine light often comes on in cold weather.

General Comments:

This car has less fit and finish quality than other Honda's I have owned. The engine is loud and buzzy and could probably use a top gear with lower RPM. What I like about the CRV is it has great foward visibility. The CRV handles well in snow and icy conditions. For a SUV, the CRV gets reasonable gas mileage, we average about 25mpg, and it is spacious enough to haul a good deal of cargo.

1999 Honda CR-V EX 2.0

Summary:

The perfect small SUV

Faults:

Ignition Switch Recall.

General Comments:

While my fiance was the one who chose the CR-V, I'm glad she did! This has been one of the most enjoyable vehicles to drive that I've ever owned.

The seats could be a little more comfortable, but after many long trips (a couple of over 3,000 miles) I've learned how to adjust the seats to fit me.

Good mileage for a small SUV: 25 MPG around town, 29+ MPG highway.

1999 Honda CR-V LX

Summary:

Another Excellent Japanese Vehicle

Faults:

Nothing unscheduled.

The only thing that had to be done was the change of a fluid in something that has to do with the all wheel drive system, but I was told that this is a common thing and needs to be changed every 40K/m which is just the cost of having a vehicle with that feature.

General Comments:

What can I say about this car.

Extremely reliable.

Comfortable for long journeys.

It burns as much gas as a civic (that can't be bad)

The C-RV is a very convenient car for commuters for many reasons; everything is so handy specially the cruise control system that allows you to speed up or slow down with just two buttons on the steering wheel.

The only problem with the CR-V that I find is that it's somewhere between categories, so it is not as fun to drive and easy to park as a small European car and yet it doesn't quite function 100% as a truck since it doesn't have much torque.

The car does have some really cool features like a cooler and a pic-nic table in the back along with an extra electricity plug and a roof rack which makes this car a camping straight shooter.

I will strongly recommend this car as far as reliability, but as far as performance I have to warn you that it is not the quickest car in the lot (and mine is 5-speed, the automatic must be worse in that dept.)... I mean well, it does get pretty quick on highways, but the take off is a little slow, make sure to get this car in stick which was only produced since 1999. but again it's a 4 cyl. so if what you want is a quick SUV type vehicle then get a Ford Escape 6cyl manual which is everything the CR-V is, has better looks, but I'm sure it will die a hundred miles before the CR-V starts getting a little rusty.

The CR-V is a GREAT CAR!!!

There is no V-tec on the 97-01 cr-v...

By "vech" I think he/she meant "vehicle". I don't think they were implying that it had v-tec... :|
