2006 Honda CR-V LX 2.4L

Summary:

Not bad but disappointing

Faults:

Both rear wheel bearings failed.

Even when new there where rattles all over the interior. This was probably due to the engine vibrating very hard when the car is stopped.

General Comments:

The dealer did say the vibration was normal and showed me on some other models. I can't believe there is a car sold that vibrates that much when new. Build quality was OK. I really didn't like driving it because rattles really bother me.

After I found out the the A/C systems in this generation CR-V were going out just out of warranty and it was costing $1500-4000 to fix and it happens on a regular basis, I got rid of it before I became the lucky one. What happens is the compressor is in a place where it doesn't get adequate ventilation and it overheats. The internals disintegrate and sent metal shards down the system. Therefore the entire a/c system has to be replaced.

I bought this car because of Honda's "legendary" reliability because I drive 40k miles a year. I was not impressed. This isn't a bad vehicle but there are so many better choices out there.

2006 Honda CR-V Unk. 2.4

Summary:

High Hopes, Low Accheivment

Faults:

Covered by Warranty

AC Compressor 28k

Water pump 24K.

Not to pleased, My mom bought this car because needed something smaller, and the Windstar was at 140k. I am surprised to say that Honda does not hold up to this bullet tough enigma that they have set forth. Even though the problems have been covered by the warranty I am just appalled that these problems have happened with less than 30k miles.

General Comments:

It somewhat comfortable, "Dances like a Willies in 4 wheel Drive" Not great in the Snow, but when I replaced the T/A spec tires with Michelens I was surprised how much better the ride and handling was.

2006 Honda CR-V

Faults:

My husband and I purchased a 2006 Honda CRV off the lot with great expectations.

We took our first trip to see our son, who is 12 hours away from our area. Half way there we turned the AC off, because it was cooler at night. The next day, we turned the AC back on and it was blowing out hot air.

We took the vehicle to the local Honda dealer service station, and he diagnosed it as an air compressor problem. He said that a rock or some object from the interstate hit the compressor and crushed it.

I would call this a fault of Honda, and they should fix their faulty design. I have heard of numerous complaints about AC and compressor problems.

Please add your complaints so we can all receive the quality that we paid or are paying for.

I bought a 2006 Honda CR-V and I admit it was used. I paid extra because the car was Honda certified, and they assured me that everything was fine on the car. After a year and a half the AC went out and Honda won't do anything about it. They told me that nobody at Honda wants to talk with you, and that it wasn't their fault because of the mileage. The mileage has nothing to do with it. I told them that, and while I have no air they sit in their office. What kind of company says those things?

I also own a 2006 Honda CR-V. I have almost 60,000 miles and my A/C is working great, never had a problem.

2006 Honda CR-V EX 156-hp, 2.4-liter, 16-valve i-VTEC engine

Summary:

Not the worst car I've owned, but somewhat disappointed so far

Faults:

Check engine light at 2,000 miles. Dealer's computer not updated yet to include 2006 models, so they were unable to pull the code. Reset check engine light, and it's remained off.

General Comments:

I previously owned a Subaru Forester which I was happy with, except for the room in the back seat. The Forester was in an accident and totalled, so my qualifications for looking at a new car were: more room in back seat, good gas mileage, manual transmission, AWD, among other things.

According to the data, the CR-V had a slightly larger back seat for my three kids, so this was my reason for buying it in the end, even though my gut told me to go with another Forester.

The more I drive it, the more I dislike the CR-V. The gas mileage on the highway isn't as bad as some of the larger SUV's, but not nearly as good as the Forest. I'm averaging about 24 MPG on the highway with the CR-V, compared to about 30 MPG with the Forester.

The AWD doesn't seem to help much either, at least with regular driving. It handles and feels more like a Front Wheel drive, which I dislike.

Acceleration with the manual transmission, especially going into 1st & 2nd gears is choppy. I could understand if I was a beginner driver, but I've been driving manual for almost 30 yrs now. Car seems to hesitate when accelerating.

"The AWD doesn't seem to help much either, at least with regular driving. It handles and feels more like a Front Wheel drive.."

Yes, the AWD is very disappointing compared to my previous CR-V.

Plus: Larger than previous CRV.

Negative: Weak gas mileage and not a good snow car.
