2001 Honda Odyssey EX 4-Dr V6 3.5 Liter VTEC
Summary:
Honda's make Lemonade.
Faults:
This is my 58-year old mother's Van.
The van was real nice for the first week or two, and then it started to get a vibration in the dash. The dealer fixed it. It was a loose bolt.
The next thing that went wrong was the front left wheel bearing. It went out at like 7,000-miles.
After this at 10,000-miles the alternator went almost out…It was charging real low.
Around the 12,000-mile check up the dealer informed me of a leak in the transmission. They had to take the transmission out of the van to fix the leak. This took about 2-weeks and they could only offer her a used 99-Civic to drive, which was junk.
Right after the factory warranty went out, at 38,000-miles, the Timing Belt Idler broke and caused the timing belt to get chewed in half. It didn’t damage the engine. Miracle…
Then at 40,000-miles the solenoid inside of the transmission went out. She had it fixed for almost $1,000.
Now at 44,000-miles the camshaft oil seal blew out and they are charging her over $600.00 to fix this $4.00 part.
We are going to trade this thing off before it decides to blow up for good and catch on fire or something like that.
She is getting another Mercury Grand, as her last one (1994) had 124,000-miles with not one problem and it still had the factory original back brakes on it. Not one problem and the lady that bought it at the church still drives it today and she has had not one problem.
General Comments:
Honda's have Lemonade pouring out the tail pipe from new. Want to drink some, then buy a Honda... Free Lomonade...
Japanese Junk Quality, but really=Junk, Never Again.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

Sorry, I can't agree. There are an incredible number of complaints about Oddys on this site, but I have an Oddy EX (2001) with about 60,000 km on it, and have had only one minor problem with a roller in one power door making a bumping sound - the dealer split the cost with me, it cost $125 CDN to repair. Other than that - no problems in 4 years. In two years we plan to trade it in - on a new Oddy. They handle like a car, with the room of a minivan.
