Faults:

I had to replace the starter.

It was not good in the snow, but you can't really blame the car, the sucker only weighed 2000 lbs with me in it.

General Comments:

I feel very privileged all of a sudden because the '82 Prelude was my very first car. My dad gave it to me when I was 15 in 1992, before I could even drive it. I was sort of disappointed when I first saw it because to me at least at that age it looked old... jump 17 years later and I hate all new cars. God I want another 82 so bad, the thing would fill up for 12 bucks and run for 300 miles. So cute and sporty, I was famous for that car. I had an '86 and a '90 too. Best car ever.

Faults:

Exhaust fell off the car 2 weeks after I bought it.

Replaced the transmission bearings at approx 160K. Rebuilt the engine while I was at it.

Replaced all the wheel bearings and rotors.

Body rusted badly. Had it all cut out and new steel welded in, new fenders and a new paint job $3K worth.

General Comments:

I only paid $5k when I bought the car second hand and spent probably another $5k during it's lifetime (over 200k of my own driving).

The car was extremely tight on the turns and had some pep despite only being a 1.6L.

Used to turn a lot of heads with it, in it's time. Weren't too many on the road. Really hard to find used parts for it.

A lot of fun to drive.

Faults:

My clutch slave cylinder and consequently throwout bearing were fried and replaced with new parts, 160,000 miles.

Seats have been and progressing to wear, all seats being reupholstered.

At 185,000 miles the transmission main shaft and all bearings were fried due to over heating on frequent long drives. Replaced with a rebuilt transmission.

190,485 miles, minor complications with new transmission and getting them taken care of.

General Comments:

It is a really great car.

Very reliable and it will give you all its got till something breaks.

Decently comfy for short rides, but enjoying a change in fabric that breathes better for the long drives.

Faults:

Rear break drums and front brake pads wore out at 170,000 miles.

New starter at 145,000 miles.

Replaced Interior panel and stereo at 140,000 miles.

Of course new tires and oil changes just for insurance every 3,000 miles.

General Comments:

Paid $375.00 for busted up yet very reliable Prelude.

Most reliable car that I have ever owned.

Awkward looking with a heart of an Ox.

Believe it or not they had sunroofs in 1982!

Slow torque between first and second gears.

Gets you to A and B without any worries.

Considered to be Rags to Riches by friends.

Faults:

Clutch died around 60,000 kilometers.

Stereo broke inexplicably in 1994.

Water pump died arround 150000 kilometers.

I had a minor accident this year and the following had to be replaced: Right fender, hood, radiator and grille.

General Comments:

It has been with my family for 21 years and until my accident it had never needed any real work.

When the clutch blew the my dad managed to drive it 2 kilometers in the city without it.

It runs great, but in the frigid cold. At around -20 Celsius you have to pull the choke out all the way and it is very fussy on shifts.

Best car our family has ever owned, we have gone through many vehicles, but the prelude seems to surpass them all.
