2003 Hummer H2 6.0
Summary:
Best suv ever built!
Faults:
The transmission went out a few weeks ago. The dealership replaced it under warranty.
The vehicle had some minor issues with wind noises and fuses.
General Comments:
I absolutely LOVE this vehicle. I always loved the Hummers, but the near 100K price tag of an H1 put it way out of my league. When the H2 came I figured I could finance it. I ordered this vehicle from the dealership and it arrived a few weeks later. I'm impressed with how well it rides and how comfortable it is. It is very quiet and smooth. It has a large 6.0 V-8 engine that pulls the near 7,000 pound beast along rather nicely. I only get 10 miles to the gallon, but I didn't buy it for it's economy. Once I got used to the size, I was able to park, maneuver and drive it like a sportscar.
Although it carries the Hummer marquee, all the mechanical are pure General Motors. The interior is very similar to the Suburban line.
Because the side of the vehicle are slab-like, the interior is huge. I feel like I'm riding in some kind of futuristic spaceship.
The only complaint I have is with the horn; it is weak and sound like it came off a cheap 70's compact. I promptly repalced it with a VERY LOUD air horn.
I currently have 36,000 miles on it and will replace it with another H2 when I hit 100,000 miles.
By the way, it does excellent off-road. It does better than any other off-road vehicle I've ever ridden in or driven.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have a 2003 H2. The transmission was replaced at 23,000 miles. The windshield wiper module was replaced at 12,000 miles. It's going out caused all the electronics to go haywire, the key to stick in the ignition, and eventually the battery to go dead.
Now I'm at 49,000 miles and it lost oil pressure. The dealer says it needs a new engine.
When my Hummer runs, I love it. Right now, facing a $8,000 bill, I am not happy.
It is true that the Hummer is an awesome off-road vehicle, incredible off-road. And I own 2 Jeep CJ7's which are beefed up nicely. So I can compare.
The pitman arm in the steering had to also be replaced. And the sunroof leaked, they replaced the molding around it. Also the 4 shocks were replaced under warranty.
I don't know if I got a lemon Hummer or others have had these problems. I'd like to read other's responses about problems.

Excellent off-road ability? You have obviously never driven a Lada Niva off-road! It would eat your Hummer for breakfast!
