I bought a Hyundai Accent 2000 GL. I have had nothing but trouble with car. I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy.

My wiper motor went out on me, alternator, battery, and front disc brakes. The car has only 17,000 miles.

The brakes and rotor had to be changed. I never got a squeeking noise indicating the brakes needed changing. I took it to dealer and he didn't want to listen to me.

2000 Hyundai Accent GL 1.5

Summary:

Best car for the money

Faults:

First car I have purchased that has not had any faults.

General Comments:

Excellent performance, mileage and comfort for a car of this class. My dealer has offered superior service. I am looking forward to many years of happy motoring with my Hyundai Accent.

2000 Hyundai Accent L

Summary:

It is a crackerjack box car!

Faults:

The windshield wipers quit working.

The alternator makes a squeaking noise.

The tape deck does not work properly all of the time.

The gears grind due to a bad clutch system (apparently this is a common problem).

The driver's sun visor pops off its mount.

General Comments:

This must be one of the worst manufactured automobiles on the market today. Only 12,000 miles and the thing is falling apart. The dealers are great about the warranty, but the manufacturer is not. I have not been able to get the manufacturer to authorize repairs on my clutch, even though the dealer knows what is wrong.

2000 Hyundai Accent GS 1.8

Summary:

Piece of crap car, I should have bought a bike

Faults:

The engine and transmission seized up after pulling out of the dealership. I had to get it fixed and the dealership made me pay for it.

While pulling on to the highway my 13" wheel fell off. I put on a doughnut that was flat and drove it off the highway. While taking the offramp my door fell off seriously injuring my girlfriend who dumped me after I bought this car. I brought my car back to the dealership asking for my money back but they didn't give it to me.

General Comments:

Buying a Hyundai Accent is the biggest mistake of my life. They have no pickup and poor handling. When I get going anything over 10 km the car vibrates and makes me feel sick. I am embarrassed to drive in it since everybody makes fun of me.

I'm lucky if it starts in the morning. I got an emmissions test and I failed.

The door fell off? The wheel fell off? I doubt they sold you a car like that, considering I've got an Accent and NEVER had a problem with it. I guess you must have gotten that thing at a chop shop.

For a new car???? In warranty??? You certainly aren't telling the full story....

2000 Hyundai Accent G (base) 1.5 liter

Summary:

Great little car, if you take very good care of it!!!

Faults:

Since I've had the car, I've only had some minor problems with it.

For one, there was a bolt of some sort that connects the stick to the actual transmission. When I was driving down the street one day, I went to shift into 2nd gear and the stick was all "floppy". I managed to get it home, where it was picked up the next day by the dealer to be repaired.

I tried to rotate my own tires one day and one of the bolts on the left front tire had been put on incorrectly. I had to pretty much "muscle" this bolt to get it off. I don't think this is an issue with all the Accents however.

Sometimes on left hand turns on an incline, there is kind of a "cracking" noise when the car comes out of the turn and bottoms out. I don't know what this is but I am thinking of getting it looked at very soon.

I took the car to a self service car wash once where they have those high pressured hoses. As I was spraying the back bumper clean, some of the paint (about the size of a quarter) chipped off. I touched it up only to find that the warranty covers paint chips.

I also noticed that the car "dents" easily. I was involved in a hit and run accident and when I tried to take the fender off myself to fix it, I noticed that the front quarter panel is very "flimsy". Regardless, I couldn't get that stupid dent out!!!

General Comments:

I think this car overall is a great buy. Mine is blue and it has a sunroof, spoiler, and mudguards. I paid about $10,500 for the car and I think it was a pretty good deal.

It's got a very "sporty" look to it, even though it's probably one of the least powerful cars out there; 92HP. I figured out my MPG the first time I took a long distance trip and it came out to about 34MPG! That's great. It's not very powerful and sometimes you have to downshift to go up a hill, however I don't think the car was intended to frequent the tracks of the Indy 500!

Overall I'd say it's a great little car. I love mine, I just wish there weren't so many "postmarket imperfections" with it.

2000 Hyundai Accent 4 cylinder

Summary:

Good car, poor service

Faults:

We have owned the car less than 9 months and the gears went out, they just stopped working. We called the dealership and were told that we could have it towed in to be fixed. We were told that it could take up to 2 weeks to fix the problem, which under any other circumstance may not be that big of a problem, but this is our only vehicle!! They told us that not only would we be without a car, but they would not provide us with a loaner car or a rental! My husband is in the Navy and I work and we have no way of getting there without having to rely on other people. We are highly upset.

General Comments:

If I were to buy another Hyundai, which may be possible, I would never purchase it from the same dealership again. We were treated very rudely and are very unhappy with our service. If you are considering buying a car in Memphis, Tennessee, DO NOT go to Covington Pike Hyundai!!!

You are right about the dealer...

I could fix a tranny in about 2 days... (including time to wait for the parts...)
