Faults:

I bought the Hyundai Accent in November of 2002. I've had it for about a year and a half now.

The other night the transmission slipped into Third-Gear and wouldn't shift correctly, it was locked in Third.

I went to the dealership and claimed it was the transmission. I soon found out that the Pulse Generator was faulty. This is something that I've seen that other, older Hyundai's have had.

This is something I'd be careful of if you choose to buy this car.

General Comments:

Its still a nice car. Its the best on gas that I've seen yet. I would suggest this for younger kids learning to drive. It's a nice cheap car to use. Too bad it doesn't have any more power to it. If it did, it wouldn't be so cheap.

Faults:

Fuel pump bolts came loose.

General Comments:

The car is great for going around town. I'm 6'4 so it is a little cramped on a long drive. The fuel economy is great.

The check engine light came on soon after purchase, turned out to be loose bolts on the fuel pump allowing air into the system. The dealer was very accommodating, even diagnosed the problem and fixed it within 1.5 hours while I waited. It seems to be a fluke with this particular car as I haven't heard any other people having this problem.

For the money this car is a good value. I would buy another Hyundai again, but I would get a higher model for more room.

General Comments:

For the price ($6888 on special) this car is very impressive. It has a manual transmission that's very easy to operate, and which makes it quite a bit more zippier than the same car with an automatic-transmssion. It has power steering, but just about no other luxuries, which is just what I was looking for. Every thing about the car seems to be of better quality than I expected, and I am quite happy with the gas mileage, 33.3 mpg. For the price, it is a very good car.

Faults:

Having just slightly more than 1000 miles , nothing has gone wrong with this car.

General Comments:

Overall, the car is a good value. The seats and interior build quality is not on par with Honda or Toyota, but, better than the cheapish materials found on some of the larger domestic sedans. Seats are comfortable, supportive, and should suffice for all, but the most discriminating buyer. Headroom is generous.

The performance of this car is spirited. It is not a road rocket, but, more than enough to get through city traffic and manuever on the highway. Fuel economy lives up to its EPA rating. I am averaging some 30-33 MPG on the highway and 25-28 city.

My only gripe is the handling of the car. The car does not seem to have extremely high limits of adhesion "at the limit". This might be a result of the base 175-13 tires. I would recommend that buyers opt for the optional alloys or get a set of wider aftermarket alloy wheels and tires. The car is very easy to handle in city traffic. All-around visibility is excellent. When you take into account the 10 year 100,000 warranty and 0.0% APR financing (for qualified buyers), this bargain is hard to beat.
