Faults:

First bought the car drove for about a month no problems. After that the first thing that went was the carb, it had to be rebuilt, shortly after that the water pump was leaking I replaced that myself. Ran fine for another month, then I replaced the oil pressure switch, simple 5 minute job. This is when big trouble started, the gas tank, and steel gas line were rusting, so it would get into the carb and mess it up so it would not run. Took it to the garage they cleaned the tank and the carb and out 2 fuel filters, within a week the car was back in the garage, after about 3 weeks of the same thing I finally got the car towed away, I was sick of breakdowns on the side of the road.

General Comments:

The car was in excellent shape, and had over 120 psi in every cylinder! I just couldn't deal with it anymore.. The car was shaky on the highway and lots of engine noise, but what do you expect for the price you probably paid.

Faults:

My 1987 Hyundai Pony has had some wiring trouble due to an incompetent friend.

The car has a minor oil leak, but is not hard to fix the problem.

The syncromesh in the gearbox is worn out and I have to double clutch to downshift from fourth gear to third gear.

General Comments:

My pony has been very reliable considering how hard I drive it.

With the five speed gearbox the car is very fast for the size of the motor.

By far my pony is the best car I've owned.

The car's body is in excellent shape, it has no rust and still has a nice finish.

The car came with a factory spoiler, sunroof and 13" aluminum wheels.

Faults:

Normal things after 17 years. In first 2 years car was using up distrubutor points like hell. replaced it with electronic unit. Car has very few perforations of rust.

Still same engine, leaks some oil, but very little. Very reliable and super cheap to operate.

General Comments:

This was a real workhorse. Could probably last another 5 years, but time to put it to rest. I hate to see it go, we bought a 2003 Tiburon.

Wish I had bough two Ponies that year.

Imagine I would take out a "brand new 1987" if I had.

Faults:

My little Pony did leak a lot of oil. However, it cost me a few Canadian pennies to have that problem fixed.

The car had been great. Up until one year ago, nothing really had been fixed or replaced. It didn't need it. My alternator is going slowly. The regular boosts I need don't bother me. I only need to have it boosted after driving in the rain. The head gasket plate cracked after an amazing 165,000 km.

General Comments:

This is a great little car. It gets me where I need to go, which is mostly highway driving.

It's not the most comfortable car. It's a good thing I'm a small person. Seat covers make it bearable, especially in the summer, those plastic seats get hot.

This is the best ugly car I have ever driven. It's fun, handles like a go-cart.

And, I have managed to keep myself occupied regardless of the fact that I don't have a radio. Thank god there is a manual choke for those cold Canadian winters too.
