2011 Hyundai Santa Fe SE V6 FWD 3.5 V6
Summary:
Fantastic value!
Faults:
The alignment was off just a tick, but the dealer corrected this at the first oil change visit, and everything has been perfect ever since.
General Comments:
We love this car! It replaced our 2007 Camry LE, which was a pretty good car, but this car is much faster, actually handles better thanks to the SE suspension, and is more useful. Our Camry also had some initial build quality issues that we thankfully have not had to deal with on this car.
This of course came with Hyundai's big-time warranty, but after looking over the vehicle and comparing it to other cars we've had, I don't think we will be needing to use the warranty much, if at all. This car is very thoroughly engineered, and has not displayed any quirks.
I wanted to get a Santa Fe Limited originally, but the SE is a very good deal, as it comes with most of the gizmos you get on a Limited, handles better, and does without all of the chrome.
This car is astoundingly fast for a crossover; it feels like it will beat my Audi A4 in a drag race, and is certainly faster than the Camry was (our Camry was a four-cylinder, not a V6). Also, this car has the first six-speed automatic that I can agree with. It is always in the right gear and shifts seamlessly, whereas the six-speed automatic in my A4 took some getting-used-to, and the five-speed automatic in the Camry was impossible to get along with.
The fit and finish are very good, with nice leather/suede seats, Berber floor mats, just the right amount of electronic toys, and tasteful, modern blue dash lighting. The Camry had this weird mix of green, teal, and whiteish blue dash lighting (yuck), so this is a very welcome change.
The reclining rear seats are wonderful, and every bit as comfy as the front seats, plus there are air vents back there, and they're in the pillars where they belong and are useful!
The fuel economy is not bad for a car this size and with this much power. We have seen as high as 26 MPG average on a long trip, and routinely get around 22, and it burns regular, so fill-ups are usually less than $50. If you hold the interstate speed right around 75, the "eco" mode is on and the mileage is substantially better.
We are very pleased, I will add updates as the miles gather.
