1998 Hyundai Sonata LX 3.0 V6

Summary:

Good car, Bad rattles

Faults:

Since I have had my Sonata I have replaced the Alternator twice. (which is buried and takes hours)

I replaced the brakes all the way around because it won't quit squeaking and it still squeaks.

At 40,000 I took it to the dealership because the oil pressure light kept coming on, which they fixed, however upon later examination I found all they did was unplug the light.

About a week after I got it it started shifting hard and still does even after I had transmission fluid changed.

But most of all it rattles more and more every day and it only has 60,000 miles.

General Comments:

All in all I guess it has not been too bad of a car, it always runs.

It is quit quick off the line and top speed.

But if rattles irritate you like they do me you will get to hate it.

1998 Hyundai Sonata Base 2.0 DOHC

Summary:

Comparable to an Accord base model

Faults:

Nothing major.

General Comments:

Hyundai's are way better than German cars, Hyundai's are moving on up.

Just buy one, you will be happy, more bang for your buck, who cares about value as long as you get from A to B.

My car comes with air, 4 speaker cassette and variable assist steering.

Hyundai's are the bomb.

1998 Hyundai Sonata GLS 6 cylinder

Summary:

I would definitely purchase another Hyundai

Faults:

Very few things fell apart. The inside cover for the door handle, for example.

General Comments:

Quick car. Sleek looking body. My 4th Sonata and I never had a dealer problem or a problem with the car itself.

1998 Hyundai Sonata GLE

Summary:

Not for speed

Faults:

Well it's a good car if you're 40 with kids and family, and plan to go at 20-30 mph, but if you're young and like to go faster, go with some other kind or you'll end up dead :)

Seriously, it's as light as a feather, it flies on turns.

I have been an owner of a 98 Sonata and now in 2003 I still have the car. It was the biggest mistake to keep the thing. After around 32,000 miles the check engine light became a normal thing and now It's a PIECE OF $#IT! I would rather ride a bike than that korean science project. ITS FOR SALE NOW! HOPE 2 get maybe $500 for it its probably worth fifty!Feel bad for the sad chap who buys it!!!

Check your recall list- that's why the engine light is on- please look it up.
