2012 Hyundai Veloster 1.6 non-turbo

Summary:

Good, reliable, economical bang for your buck

Faults:

Have had to reset the audio system twice due to the system freezing up. That was within the first 30k miles. No audio problems since the dealer did a software update.

At approximately 50k miles the cruise control switch would fail intermittently. Dealer replaced switch.

No further problems.

General Comments:

Car is a little slow on acceleration, but makes up for it at the pump. I average 36 MPG driving 102 miles per day. My commute is a mix of highway and mountain driving at a zippy pace.

The dual disc automatic takes a little getting used to. I mostly drive it in manual mode, because in auto it struggles to find the best gear to be in when going uphill.

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo 1.6 turbo

Summary:

Fun, sporty, and turns heads

Faults:

So far, since I had the car, it has been great; no bad things to say so far.

The only thing I would probably say bad is a blind spot, since it is a two door, well three really.

Also, the fuel mileage in the city could be better, but is not overly poor.

It is a fun car, and feels more like a six cylinder, rather than four with great features...

General Comments:

The car is quick and responsive, with good stopping power.

However, there are a few blind spots.

If it's fun and sporty, why only five out of ten for performance?

Turn your mirrors way out to eliminate blind spots. I just got my V recently and couldn't believe the blind spots. Googled the proper way to adjust the side mirrors, and problem solved.

Agree with the above comment. Turning the side mirrors 'outside' at their maximum will help better cover the blind spots. I do so, then while driving, watch a car passing me: if I can see the car in the rear mirror, then it appears right away in the side mirror, the blind spot is better covered (still need to turn my head and check for safety).
