1996 Infiniti I30 Base VQ30DE

Summary:

Great car with high miles LOL

Faults:

Front struts (any car with this amount of miles will have this).

Rear valve cover gasket, then water pump.

General Comments:

Well I got this car after my grandfather passed away in July of 2012. He had the car from 2011.

The front seats are harder than what I thought they would be. They did not hold up to well (if the previous owners had cleaned them right, they would be great!!).

I love the Bose radio; it kicks, compared to my grandmother's Mustang with the Mach 460, and my mom's Firebird with the Monsoon.

The car does handle nice. Saying that, I'm not going to wing it through the curvy roads. The car is nice and quick for me. I've have had it up to 134 MPH before, but it did not have much more...

The trunk has a good amount of room to it, but the rear seats do not fold, but they give you a nice pass though in the middle of the back arm rest.

The car has nice soft touch doors, and well anywhere you put your hand.

The keyless entry is nice. Also the front power window feature, that when you hold down the unlock button for 3 seconds, rolls down the front windows. The auto dimming rear view mirror is nice too.

The MPG is not so great, and it takes premium!!! But it's a great car all around, even though it's an overpriced MAXIMA LOL.

Well checking back in again. The car now has 219K miles and is still running great. The trans has started to slip in between 2-3rd gear; I guess running it at 130MPH+ takes its toll. Still a great car.

Update at 238K miles. So far it's still the same. Not a thing wrong LOL. When this car goes, I will buy another one with low miles.

1996 Infiniti I30 3.0

Summary:

Reliable car, at any mileage

Faults:

Radiator cracked - had to replace for $200.

Starter bad - replaced for $300.

Leaks from sunroof from time to time / minor.

Electrical problems, probably resulting from leak, caused the alarm to go off in the rain occasionally. Had to disconnect battery. Hasn't happened in quite a while.

Oh, and the radio (sweet Bose radio) went crazy a few months after buying the car. I've read this is a general issue with the i30.

General Comments:

Those problems are over 3 years of ownership. I consider myself lucky to have such a reliable car.

1996 Infiniti I30 V6

Summary:

I love my baby, it definitely was all I wanted and more

Faults:

I had to get new front calipers (less than $200), new tires within first year (about $250). Just recently I had to CV joints replaced that coast $220. Right rear window regulator needs to be replaced, window does not go up and down.

General Comments:

Although I had to get some things fixed it wasn't anything major or unexpected in a car of that age and wear. I had the car one week short of 3 years and I rode that thing like an SUV. I think it was a great car. It was my first and I purchased it myself. Between Phila, DC, and Miami city driving, plus long road trips I put this car to the test. With regular oil changes and tune ups this car proved to be able to handle everything. Since it's an Infiniti the parts are more expensive, but I rarely had to purchase anything besides mentioned above. Still drove smoother than others newer cars. Luxury at its most economical and logical.

1996 Infiniti I30

Summary:

Great, dependable car

Faults:

Typical items: battery, tires, oil, alternator.

General Comments:

This is one of the best car I have ever owned. Very dependable and lucky to have purchased. Infiniti in my books is one of thebest mfg's in the market today.

The car has 144k miles and runs and starts like a newer car.
