1999 Infiniti I30

Summary:

Not worth the problems

Faults:

Radio and clock go out. Fuse seems to blow whenever I take a hard left turn. If I drive like a grandma, it's fine. Dealership has looked at it 4 times and can't resolve. Now wants to charge by the hour to dig into entire electrical system. Not likely.

Brakes squeak. Previously squeaked when I backed up. Both front and rear have been replaced. Now the brakes squeak when I'm driving forward.

Trunk release is on lower driver side door. I have reached for something in the door pocket and opened the trunk lid - while driving. They should either move the trunk release, or remove the storage pocket from the lower driver's side door.

Car is loud. It seems to transfer much of the road noise to the interior.

One feature at purchase was having the use of a loaned car whenever the car needed service. Since purchase, there has never been a car available to borrow without first complaining. Isn't that what dealerships have - a lot full of cars? Would pay zero extra for this feature in the future from the local dealer.

General Comments:

Car handles well, I love it except for these problems. The radio issue is really making me want to trade, but don't know where to go next.

The fuse problem affecting the radio and clock sounds like a wiring short. I'm guessing that wire from the fuse block to the radio/clock rubbed against something under the dash so that when you make a sharp turn, the bare wire is touching metal and grounding itself. Try replacing this wire to see if it fixes the problem. You don't need to buy a replacement harness from Infinti. Just slice the replacement wire (use the same gauge wire) to the original wire when it exits the fuse block and splice it again before it enters the clock or radio. Hope this helps.

I don't understand your trunk release problem. I have to have the gearshift in park or the trunk will not release.

The trunk release is a problem! And other than that, the car is very luxury like and comfortable to drive on long road trips, and spacious, especially for the low price. And also the Bose system sounds very nice..

1999 Infiniti I30 Std 3.0

Summary:

Great Road Car

Faults:

Absolutely nothing.

General Comments:

Lease car from Ft. Worth area, appears to have had regular maintenance and is black/tan. This vehicle will cruise at 90+ all day long or boulevard at 30 and never complain. I use synthetic lubes and have attained 29 mpg. Leather is softer than previous vehicle, while just a durable. Only issue is the wife likes it so much, I may have to buy myself a new G35 Coupe!

1999 Infiniti I30 T 3.0

Summary:

Luxury and performance at reasonable price

Faults:

Left front wheel bearing and the indicator lights on the stereo - both replaced under warranty.

General Comments:

The smoothest engine/transmission combination I have ever felt. Very quick acceleration from a small engine. Very comfortable interior and excellent stereo. Good buy as a used car for sure. Warranty is extensive: 4yr/60K bumper to bumper and 5 yr/70K power train. Service is the best I have ever seen (Dorschel Infiniti, Rochester, NY). Highly recommend this vehicle.
