1995 Infiniti J30 3.0

Summary:

It's a great luxury car that could drain your pocket on gas

Faults:

The car tends to spin a lot in wet weather. It skids a lot and I am afraid of driving it in wet weather. Someone tell me how to handle it in wet weather especially at turns and is it due to the tires.

General Comments:

The car is quick and good, but it tends to be unstable in wet weather.

The tires are the only thing touching the road and when there is water on the road. Get some good tires. Likely the tread depth is too low, since many tires are decent in rain.

1995 Infiniti J30

Summary:

This is the car to have at any age

Faults:

The car has had some minor problems.

Front end stabilizer shock broke.

ERG valve needed replacing.

General Comments:

Over all this is a "fantastic car".

The J30 takes great to 17" inch rims in style and performance.

The J30 is the sport/luxury king.

I own a 1995 Infiniti J30 and it's a great car. Lately the orange "Check Engine" light is glowing. Will anyone tell me what the reason is for the light to glow? It's really expensive to investigate the problem, but I will do so. I want to understand the problem and prepare myself before the mechanic diagnoses it. Will someone be kind enough to tell me about this problem? Will it be harmful? The car runs smoothly and picks up well.

"Change your ERG valve and tubes, that will stop your check engine light."

1995 Infiniti J30 Gold Edition 3.0

Summary:

Awesome

Faults:

Door molding front/back comes off from time to time.

Leather on front doors has worn off where arm would rest near window.

Battery leads became corroded and doors would automatically lock after unlocking.

General Comments:

I bought the car for $3000 used and have put lots of highway miles on it.

Car continues to run perfect.

I have got one tuneup and oil change on it so far.

However the fuel injectors need cleaning.

Car will not start now on first key turn because of fuel injectors.

1995 Infiniti J30 3.0

Summary:

Sleek, Solid, but not always cheap

Faults:

Quite a bit of cosmetic wear, especially on the seats and door interiors.

Sunroof sticks, and occasionally leaks in bad weather.

Just the other day, the tires began to shake at around 60 mph, as if one was loose. I pulled over, checked the lug nuts, and all seemed fine. Hasn't happened since.

Heated seats no longer work.

Bose subwoofer "pops" with certain music.

The driver's side window motor was replaced. It acted sluggish for the first few months, but now its fine. Weird.

Driver's side door needs to be rehung. Only about 1/8" too low. Not a crisis.

This, however, is. That fancy Bose stereo has no memory. Does not remember presets on the radio on, nor what track on the CD you were listening to when you shut the car off. From what I've read, it's only a minor miswiring in the stereo itself. Some power cable not plugged in right.

General Comments:

The J30 handles pretty well, although I have yet to try it in snow. It's got GREAT speed from the start, critical for making merges, etc. It gets sluggish to accelerate around 60-80 mph, especially on the slightest of hills.

I get slightly better acceleration with premium fuel, but slightly better mileage with regular. Go figure. I usually get about 20 mpg, but slightly more if my girlfriend is driving it. Mostly highway travel.

The car does look pretty hot. No stupid hood or ground effect, just sleek styling. I feel very pimped out rolling around in it.

When I've taken it in for oil changes, etc., mechanics have always commented that everything looks pretty solid.

Oh, and the horn does sound a little wimpy, but no big deal.

Infinitis are known as the poor man's rich man's car, but they definitely like the high end parts. It does make a difference in performance, though.
