1997 Isuzu Rodeo

Summary:

My Dream Car

Faults:

Exhaust system had a crack in it and the alternator went out.

General Comments:

The Rodeo although it is not a top performer by any means, it was the best car that I have ever owned (that including a Acura Integra, Honda CR-V, Honda Prelude, Nissan Maxima) The Rodeo is a slow mover, but if you are not in a race that should not matter.

The seats are the most comfortable of any car I have ever riden in, and the cloth interior I would take over leather any day.

The one downfall of the Rodeo is its horrible gas mileage. I was getting around 14 mpg with mine and that was with driving 55 on the expressways.

I took the Rodeo off road one time and it handled like a beaut. Outclassing a Newer Jeep Cherokee.

Although this may sound odd, if I ever hit the lottery, the only car I would ever want to drive, over Mercedes, BMW, Rolls Royce, would be a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo.

1997 Isuzu Rodeo S 3.2L V6

Summary:

Great first car!

Faults:

So far the one thing that had "gone wrong" was the front passenger door would click when you would open it. I looked at it and noticed that the bolts were lose. I simply tighten them and now it is fine. And also the car pulls to the right, it could be the tires I don't know. Otherwise the car is now fine.

General Comments:

I really like how the V6 engine has great pickup! When driving around town its good, but it shows its true colors on the open road. If you really open it up the engine really pulls you on those "freeway on ramps" wink, wink. But the interior is also very comfortable, I am 6'1" and weigh 200 pounds and I have to move the seat forward because there is so much room. Overall I think I would give this car a nine out of ten only because the paint is alittle faded. But I also only 98000 miles on it. And seeing as how its pretty much a Honda, it should go for a pretty long time. And seeing is how I also am a sophmore in high school, I think I will get my use out of it.

1997 Isuzu Rodeo S 3.2L Automatic

Summary:

Mean-Lean Driving Machine

Faults:

When I bought this vehicle I received all of its service records, the previous owner was very very loyal to it.

So far the only things that have gone wrong since I bought my Rodeo was a tail light that went out, $2.00 to buy a replacement.

And sometimes the belts squeak at a cold start up, but goes away within minutes. I have a minor oil leak, but nothing that I am worried about.

General Comments:

I love my Rodeo, its been loyal to me. I live in New England where it's constant snow in the winter, and the 4 wheel drive is my best friend.

It is a powerful mid-size SUV with quick acceleration and a good turning ratio. With the Power Drive feature it makes highway merging and cruising as easy as pie.

Suspension on my Rodeo is extremely smooth and makes driving it pleasurable; it's almost as if it's an air cushioned ride.

I had no problem with the state vehicle safety & emissions inspection. And it never has according to its records.

But with a powerful 3.2L comes its downside, its MPG.

My rodeo is a gas guzzler. But I still enjoy driving it.

It has spacious rear seats and also front seats with plenty of leg room.

Over-all, my Isuzu Rodeo is at the top of my list of pre-owned SUV's.

1997 Isuzu Rodeo

Summary:

Better than most SUV's

Faults:

Timing belt 50,000

Tapping engine, 55,000

Shocks 60,000.

General Comments:

This car has its ups and downs.

It is very roomy and has great leg room. Extremely comfortable for road trips and has great cargo space.

Fairly powerful and super reliable off road. Without 4-wheel drive this car is not worth buying. It is an animal off-road going through virtually anything.

Eats a lot of gas!

Noisy, especially at high speeds.

Powerful and fast, but not quick (ie. its acceleration is not very good, but at high speeds it really moves).

Bulky and very likely to rollover if not properly handled.

Overall it is much better than a blazer or an explorer. The only SUV far superior to it might be the Jeep Cherokee.
