General Comments:

This is my first Japanese vehicle & first SUV. I am pleased on both counts with the reliability & design.

I switched to the SUV from my F-150 to accommodate my growing children. The Trooper has excellent passenger room in the rear seat.

I am 6 ft & fit comfortably in the captains seat, but could see where anyone taller would have problems. Additional leg length should be a consideration in the next design.

I have replaced my factory radio & speaker system with a premium one & the sound is held inside beautifully. This is a positive because it covers the horrific wind noise from the front windows during highway driving.

With regular oil changes & general maintenance I expect this vehicle to last me a long time.

Cracked driver's windshild (stone).

General Comments:

Purchased in 10 of 02, used a little over 1 qt. in the first 2000 miles. Changed oil/filter, does not use oil between 5000 miles oil changes. I use Mobile One synthetic 15-50 as I live in the valley in CA. where it can get over 100F. I have been to Denver, phoenix, and El Paso and driving about 65-70 I get about 19-20m MPG. I now have just over 15,000 and have had no (that reads, none) problems. I probably have owned somewhere around twenty five vehicles and the Trooper has/is the best operating. It is for sure, a keeper. I understand that Isuzu is planning on a new Trooper for 06 that will be made in Japan. If it is better than what I have now, a reliable, easy to operate, durable, and go any place vehicle, I will take a look at it. I plan to install a supercharger this week before I move to Denver where the extra power will come in handy.

Nothing has gone wrong with this vehicle.

General Comments:

This vehicle has plenty of power for everyday driving, but not so much to overwhelm the women whom these vehicles are clearly designed for.

The overall performance of this car is great.

One of 2 complaints I have is with the comfort level. As stated above, this vehicle is designed for soccer moms. I'm 6'-2", and I can't drive it for very long without feeling extremely cramped. The other downside is the unbelievable road noise. The wind noise at the front windows is comparable to a typhoon. The noise from the tires does not help at all.

The fuel economy is what you might expect from a vehicle this size when paired with the strong engine. On a day to day basis, we see 15-17 mpg, with 80% of that being highway driving. The very most we have ever seen is 20. That was achieved on a long trip, where there was nothing, but highway driving from fill to fill.

Faults:

Alignment was off center when I bought it. Dealer repaired the next day.

General Comments:

The Trooper has proved to be completely dependable, comfortable, and a pleasure to drive. It has comfortable, high seats, plenty of storage, and enough power for everyday driving. The Trooper is designed to be a family hauler, and it does a great job.

The gas mileage isn't the greatest, but our Trooper gets pretty close to the mpg that was on the sticker. Usually we average about 20 mpg.

We were attracted by the huge rebate of $4500, and the 10 year, 100k miles warranty. It looks and feels more expensive than it was. A great deal!

One thing that puzzles us are the armrests. They aren't exactly in the best position for a tall person.

This is our first Japanese vehicle. After years of driving cars that fall apart the day they are driven out of the dealer, it feels great to know we have a vehicle that will start up every day and provide years of service.

Faults:

There has been an annoying dash rattle from the passenger side by the windshield. Also the drivers side door hinge had to be repaired. Both were fixed under warranty.

General Comments:

The Trooper has been absolutely wonderful. It seems to be very well built, and feels like a high quality Japanese import car. The engine provides plenty of horsepower and torque, and delivers about expected gas mileage. The styling is clean and conservative, but still looks rugged enough to take off road. The TOD four wheel drive system is amazing, I have yet to find a spot that I can't get to, and it absolutely loves the snow. I have had my Trooper off road about as often as I can, and it has never let me down. I also like the high commanding driving position, and the roomy interior.
