1967 Jaguar Mark II Sedan 3.4 liter

Summary:

Fabulous early sports sedan

Faults:

Rear axle seals leaked - replaced; minor electrical gremlins; minor oil leaks from engine, transmission and differential; clutch slave cylinder failed - rebuilt with S/S sleeve; speedo bounces a bit.

General Comments:

Fabulous looking and performing sport sedan, that was way ahead of its time.

210 cu. in. engine with 210 hp; 4 wheel disc brakes; twin OHC engine; comfort for 5 and handles great.

Has a tendency to rust in the rear quarter panels and front fender guide lights.

Does not like to sit in traffic when it's warm outside (over 80 degrees) or tends to overheat: an electric fan and overflow bottle are necessities.

Transmission is synchro on all gears, but rather slow on shifts without grinding.

Got it with upgrades: rack and pinion power steering; alternator; S/S exhaust; electronic ignition; twist on oil filter.

Expect 13-20 MPG without O/D. Small gas tank (14 gallons) limits range.

Serial numbers show this to be one of the last MkII's made, but it was rebadged by the dealer as a 340 to avoid confusion in Jaguar's transition to the new sedan series.
