2000 Jaguar S-Type

Summary:

The 2000 models are lemons and need to be recalled

Faults:

Idles too high.

Engine fan stays on.

A/C unit doesn't blow heat.

Returned to service twice for jerking of car.

Ash tray door stays open.

Car beginning to overheat.

Right Boot message came on.

Erratic gear shifting.

Gear Box message came on.

The trunk will not automatically open using the switch or key. It gets stuck... I paid $70 to get it fixed during the warranty period and it still sticks.

Interior car roof fabric coming loose and hanging. I can't let my windows down for fear that a draft will make it worse.

Left driver's window stop midway while going up.

General Comments:

All of the problems every customer has been saying as happened to my car.

I will NEVER purchase another Jaguar ever in this or my next lifetime!!!

I would absolutely love to join anyone on a lawsuit.

This car's model and year is a total lemon! They should be recalled.

I own a 2002 S Type and have experienced the same problems as the previous owner:

The air conditioning doesn't cool and the heating system does not heat. I have taken the vehicle in 3 times in less that 2 months for this complaint and it is still not corrected.

I had to have the power window replaced, the trunk latch replaced for sticking, and now there is a problem with the front end suspension.

I had to obtain a lawyer before the dealership would honor the manufacturer warranty repairs: including the previously mentioned repairs and the Manifold O Rings (Transmission), Electronic Gear Cable, and Evaporated Heat Sensor.

Now when I place the car in Park, the gear indicator shows Reverse... I have to shift back into drive, then shift back into Park. Oh,...the paint is literally falling off the front and rear bumpers, and the dealership insists that this certified preowned Jaguar has never sustained in body damage. They are refusing to correct that problem as well. I have owned this vehicle less than 1 yr. and it has 58,680 miles. I have only driven the vehicle 8,400 miles in 11 months!!!

My 1996 Van den Plas was a much better car than this piece of junk. I have received no response from Jaguar North America and the Jaguar service dept could care less. I spend at least 2-3 days per week dropping off and picking this vehicle up from service dept. Check this out, the dealership charged me for a rental car for 3 days out of the 6 days they kept car and refused to make repairs. That was the last straw, I got an attorney!

I have a 2000 S-Type 6 cylinder since 2004. I now have over 216,000 miles on it.

I have experienced some of the problems you are explaining, but my car runs like a charm and always has. Anytime I have a problem, I just take it to my mechanic, who is excellent. I never take it to the dealer. It went to the dealer once back in 2004.

Right now the headliner has dropped some, I'm sure due to the sun in Houston, Texas.

I am sure the sunroof doesn't work, because the last time I opened it a year ago, it didn't want to close back, so I forced it closed and it made a loud pop!

Just got the air fixed after it went out last year, and the heater doesn't blow hot. The heater has been broken for 3 years. I plan to get it fixed today for $350.00.

My mechanic is the best because he builds race cars! He knows everything there is to know about a car. I plan to drive it to 300,000 miles, which is not long in Houston.

2000 Jaguar S-Type S Type 3.0

Summary:

This is worse than the horror stories I had heard about Jaguars

Faults:

At first there was a small coolant leak on the garage floor. I located the source and in the process of placing a hose clamp on the small by-pass hose the 1/4" nipple (which was made from some form of plastic) broke completely off. Unfortunately this was part of the cooling system manifold which cost $300 to replace.

Both front windows have failed and will not operate.

The shifter is being replaced as we speak for the second time.

General Comments:

If not for the 1972 Volkswagen Beetle I once owned this would be the biggest piece of junk that I ever owned. So I guess the UK finally has something to thank Germany for.

I am waiting for Chevy to put 0% on the Tahoe and this piece of junk is out of here.

You have very high standards when it comes to maintenance, I that's not really all that bad for a seven year old car. Theres A lot worse.

I agree with the comment above. 3 faults in 7 years and a piece of damage you caused through improper maintenance, and you're complaining. Unbelievable!

And you think a Chevy is somehow going to improve on this. lol.

I have had nothing, but problems with my 2000 Jag S Type. Window regulators, every two months I have had to replace at least one "$500.00 each". Transmission $5400.00 oh yeah by the way Jag dealerships don't repair transmissions. They only remove and replace transmissions. The worst service I have ever experienced at a dealership. The headliner has fallen off and I have replaced two gear shifters at $450.00 a piece. What ever you do don't park this car on a incline!!! Run from the JAguars!!!

The 2000 S-Type that I bought new likewise, has been a money pit. I just quit putting money into it. The shifter, the back windows do not work at $300 a side, head gasket $600, and right now it has been it has been sitting for 2 years, and I have no idea what wrong with it. The dealership is 100 miles away, and it cost $250 to carry it there. New this car was $40.000, and I had not seen the head liner come down in a car since my dad's old work car.
