2001 Jaguar S-Type

Summary:

Piece of crap

Faults:

I really should have done my research before I bought this car, it's a total piece of crap.

First general service cost about $500, for a 20 min job, just to check to see if everything is OK. And then the customer service was terrible.

A couple of months down the line I had to do a tune up for a car that had only 60,000 miles on it for another $500, had to get the brakes done for another $499.00. That's already almost $2000 for a car I've only had about 7 months.

Then, what do you know, the headliner in the car starts to fall off.

I have never experienced such things with a car, and I've had 7 cars, none of em ever gave me problems like this.

And then to top it off, the other day one of the front headlight went out. You have to be Jesus in order for you to take that piece of crap out and put the bulb back in, and if you are not Jesus, then you have to either take out the front bumper, or take it to the dealership just to replace a lightbulb.

And then I was trying to get it out of park after my frustration that day, and it didn't want to get out of park, until it broke. Now I have to replace the shift gear assembly.

Totally piece of crap car, and Jaguar would never own up that there are major issues with the car.

General Comments:

The car is very uncomfortable, driving it is like driving a Kia, which I would even say was more reliable than a Jaguar.

2001 Jaguar S-Type

Summary:

The Jaguar sucks, and it should be illegal to sell them in the United States of America!!!

Faults:

After reading everyone's comments about this car I am so angry. I own a 2001 S-Type. My husband and I bought it last year (March 2007). It has been nothing but a disappointment from the beginning.

About two weeks after we purchased it, the "high engine temperature" light came on. I thought, "well maybe I didn't twist the gas cap correctly and the car is very sensitive." After twisting the gas cap, the light actually did go off, but about a month later it came back on. It's been coming on ever since. The only thing is it goes off after I drive a mile or so.

A few months later the "fail-safe engine mode" light came on and now the "gearbox fault" light has come on. I don't know what to do. These cars are not cheap and the repairs are not either. I don't want to put a lot of money into a piece of junk that won't even be there in the long run.

If there is going to be a law suit, I am all in. Please keep me informed.

The only reason Jaguar is able to get away with this is because people have not banded together about all of these reoccurring problems. There is power in numbers!!! Meanwhile, I be on the lookout to see what I can do.

If the low fuel light comes on.. you add fuel... if the temp goes up... you check your coolant level. if your check engine light comes on, you do not twist the fuel cap... you can say the same things about Chevy, Honda, Ford, Mercury and any other vehicle you can think of... don't blame the car when you can go to Autozone and get a diagnostics test done for free.

When the "gearbox fault" light comes on, what do you do, pour more gearbox fluid into the gearbox? Obviously this is a fault with the car, not operator error.
