Rear control arm at 105k.

Replaced oil pan.

General Comments:

Great car, handles very good in the snow.

Everything was going good with car until now. I'm starting to have electrical problems; my doors won't open automatically, my rear turn signals are not working. I checked fuses, replaced the bulb, and also it keeps saying my rear door is open and the boot is open, when they are not.

I'm also starting to hear a whistling noise coming from the rear.

It's been a great car, but now these things are happening. I have a 140k miles on it, never had a problem, and now my alarm isn't working either. I'm thinking about selling it before anything major happens. Love the car, it's a shame this is happening, was planned on having it well over 200k. It still runs great, but the electrical problems are a pain to deal with. The interior lights start coming on while driving, and my engine light comes on and off... I don't know; maybe it's because it's over 10 years old???

Faults:

E-brake cable broke right when I bought it at 58000 miles. Jaguar dealership wanted $350 to change it, but I had a local shop do it for $55.

The driver's seat has worn a lot from me getting in and out.

The trunk does not close very easily. If you just close it like any other car, the dashboard still says boot-open. So to close it, you have to slam it down extremely hard.

Lots of people have told me that the fuel pump goes bad on those cars, and that is because they drive it until it is empty. I have found that if you keep at least a quarter tank of gas in your car, the fuel pump will not go bad.

General Comments:

The Jaguar X-Type is a very good car, and as long as you drive it and take care of it, it will continue to work great.

I heard that the X-Type had a bad transmission, so I decided that I would buy one with a manual transmission. My car is at almost 100000 miles and the transmission shifts super smooth.

The back seats are small.

The car is an excellent winter car, because it is all wheel drive, and it has started in the coldest days of winter since I bought it used in 2006.

I have a friend who also has a X-Type, and he treats it horribly. He has had a few issues with the car, but it is because he doesn't take care of it. Jaguars are good cars, but only if you take care of it. If you never change the oil, or drive like a race car driver, then you will have issues with any car. If you know how to take care of a car, then the X-Type is a good choice.

Faults:

This past Saturday, I turned my Jaguar X-Type Sport 2.5L off and the gear was stuck in Drive followed by a "gearbox fault" then my car wouldn't start and I had to be towed. Now the only way to start my car is by opening the hood, next opening the fuse box, and last actually pressing a button to start the engine, since the car won't shift out of drive anymore!

General Comments:

I've have spent countless thousands of dollars on random repairs.
