2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5

Summary:

I would buy this car again!!

Faults:

The car had an air intake hose go bad. The repair cost $385.37 at the dealership. That is the only repair the car has had in the past 58,000 miles. It now has 90,000 miles.

I had the brakes and rotors replaced on all of the wheels; it cost me 378.95.

General Comments:

This car handles great! I put Michelin hydro tires on it, and it is awesome in rain or in snow.

The front seats have enough room, but the back seats are kind of cramped.

2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0

Summary:

Garbage

Faults:

Wow, the transmission started leaking, the gear ratio factory tuning is not good, the materials are cheap, the transmission failed, and from what I can see, that is something to be expected.

DO NOT BUY JAGUAR, THEY SUCK!! I am severely disappointed, and should have listened to my mechanic when he said they are trash.

General Comments:

The car has several design flaws that will make it a costly vehicle.

2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0

Summary:

Love the car, would never buy anything else

Faults:

To be honest with you guys, every car that you own, whether it would be a Chevy, Ford or Pontiac, it's gonna cost you one way or the other.

I have the 2002 Jaguar X Type. I have had no problem with the car. The car has been great; only things I had to replace were tires, windshield wipers and oil. If you drive the car properly, then none of these things would happen. I have never been over 100 klm/h in my car. NEVER.

One other thing that is going wrong is my driver's seat has a few little lines in it. Other that that, the car has been great to me. It all depends on the driver. I've owned it since 2002, it's now 2010, it goes in for regular maintenance, that's all it needs, and the car will be fine. Well that's my point of view, never had to replace anything.

Ohh one second, yes sorry, the alternator, which is common, so I love my Jaguar X Type.

Thanks to all.

General Comments:

It's a great car, love it, never will get rid of it.

It's got 20 inch rims, suspension changed on it, the car is beautiful, never could ask for a better working performance car.

Very comfortable heated seats, never failed.

All the other comments I just read, I personally think it's driver abuse, and that's why your car is breaking down. Drive it nice; nothing happens to it. Thanks!!!

I can not imagine living in a country which has a first class highway system covering vast distances, and then driving a Jaguar that "NEVER" gets over 60 MPH (100 KPH).

In most States, and in many cities, if you were to drive that slow on the freeway, you would be at peril for being a traffic hazard.

To say that traveling at this speed is what it takes to reduce repair and maintenance costs is bizarre, and speaks volumes about the car itself

2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5

Summary:

One word... disappointment!

Faults:

I own a 2002 Jag 2.5 X-type. Bought the car with 24,000 miles in Oct 08'. Living in the Chicagoland burbs, the winter came quick, and as soon as the cold set in, the car started acting up. My check engine light came on and went off every time the temp was below 30. I had it serviced and they found nothing wrong with the engine, but told me the AC needed replaced... $1700 later and in the middle of another winter, the light continues to go on and off.

The sunroof was stuck cracked open for over a month, and now the car shakes and wants to continue to drive to the right. An alignment is a must I know.

It also makes very loud, almost whistling noises from time to time..? I can't tell where from. I have had routine oil changes and check-ups at the dealer, but now I'm worried what everything will cost.

General Comments:

Loved the car at first, but now rather disappointed. Also, with the gas mileage on this vehicle (anywhere from 15-19 mpg and was told 19-26), I should have just bought an Escalade to deal with the harsh winters here.
