2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 Sport 2.5L
Faults:
Severe tire wear, inside tread, resulting in one blow out and replacement of all 4 tires. Dealer's comment is "the car is out of alignment". Seems to be a lot more than this. Tires were Pontenza G009 225/50R17s.
Have tires roated and balanced every 5K miles car alignment checked every 6 months.
Is this a design flaw with the car or the tires?
Anyone have similar problems?
General Comments:
Love the handling and look of car. Needs to have slightly longer wheelbase to make seating in back seat more comfortable.
Need an XJ that is AWD.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Mine too. I have the 2005 x type wagon. I did not even notice the tire wear on the front until they had it on the rack. The tire was so badly worn the belts were showing. Whats up with this overpriced auto. No wonder the Japanese cars are beating up everyone. I had a Acura TL for almost 8 years without ever seeing the dealer. Oh yea, I also had my key fobs recalled for the 2nd time. They won't open the car and the car has NO inside door lock button.

September 23, 2006.
I purchased a 2003 Jaguar X Type, paid 35K cash, Great, right? Well at 36,000 miles, after having 3 or 4 wheel alignments (losing track). I have replaced all four tires, due to poor front end tire wear. By the way the tires are Continental Brand.
I now have 36,000 miles on the car and I am told it needs tires again, alignment just performed last week! Terrible, sloppy front end, just poor, no fun to drive.. Actually, when the car was first delivered, I had to bring it back they said it needed an alignment.
Lets face it, design flaw. What else could it be? I'm driving cars over 30 years, have never had so much trouble with a new vehicle. The only acceptable explanation is a design flaw. Ill be trading vehicles soon, a costly experience no doubt. But I can't wait to drive a car that's fun to drive, not disappointing and that's what this driving experience is. Disappointing with a capital D. I can say that after all I did spend the 35K and its true.
I have owned many new cars, the X is properly named! If I had the chance again I definitely would X it off my list! Frustrating and costly experience, lets face it, if youre running back and forth to the dealer, you keep experiencing the same problem your certainly not going to be happy with the car.
Hey, the service is great though.
