2003 Jaguar X-Type

Summary:

As far as I can tell, it seems to be a well built car

General Comments:

I am a bit uncertain about the 2002 Jaguar X-type model 2.5. I have read every single review posted on this website (and on others). Yet I still have mixed signals. Some say that the X-type is THE worst car they have ever purchased, leased etc. But some say that it is the best car! I am just wondering if that these people who post such negative comments on these cars start out with a grudge against them, or perhaps the cars they buy are actually "duds" or "lemons" or perhaps they mistreat them? I have known a few people that own/lease a Jaguar and they have not mentioned anything going/gone wrong with them... i suppose it could be safe to say you take your chances with most vehicles these days.

Good comment. I am reading about Jag X-type and have two polaric points of view: worst car ever and great car having no issues. What to believe? Both cannot be right.

Well this car has the Ford Contour tranny which is a piece of Junk. If you don't believe me read the reviews for the Ford Contour.

2003 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 3.0

Summary:

A comfortable, sleek, handling looker

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong and it rides and drives like the new ones I test drove.

General Comments:

The all wheel drive provides the ability to drive in snow with the grip of an SUV.

The interior is sumptuous and the most comfortable of any car I've owned. I love the seating comfort and positioning. Prior to this, I've owned Mercedes and Acuras, fine cars in many respects, but the seating comfort was always a low point on these makes. After a back injury, this became of paramount importance.

2003 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 2.5

Summary:

This car is not punk; it holds its own very well

Faults:

Nothing to this point. The car has run perfectly.

General Comments:

This car really runs so hold on to it. Accelleration and sterring are absolutely responsive to the actions of the driver.

Prepare to spend a lot of time (and money) at the gas station. The car goes through a tank of premium gas like a camel goes through a bucket of water. I'm refueling every other day.

New Jaguars are awesome! I think they preform very well. Jaguar is a great company.

2003 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 3.0

Summary:

Headturning luxury sedan with spirit

Faults:

I have experienced zero defects. The vehicle has been excellent.

General Comments:

The car accelerates smartly. The steering is more precise than my BMW 740iL. Handling is more linear and controlled than 2003 3 series BMW. Fortunately, it does not have the racing feel of the Audi 3.0. The Audi is too tense and reminded me of a drive shaft motorcycle. The ride is very controlled and poised. Grace may be the best descriptor for the handling. The exterior and interior are more posh and friendly than BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Honda. The look is classic JAG, trim and athletic while retaining all the functionality of the German marques. The all wheel drive is remarkable. I only wish the seat had memory positions. The car is better built than any Jaguar prior to 2003. The Germans are definitely all business and come across as well built economy cars while the X-Type has every bit the impression of luxury and Jag tradition. Having owned 2 Mercedes and currently driving a BMW740iL, I can easily claim the Jag is more fun to drive. The BMW740 sound system is impeccable and the larger frame adds space, but I still find myself preferring my wife's X-Type 3.0.

Fully Agreed. I am on my second, having started with one of the earliest ones. Much preferred to my previous BMW 3 series, and to the BMW 5 which I tried before buying, and to the equivalent Mercedes, also.

A driver's car with comfort, sensible space, and a first class boot.

Couldn't agree more. I've had cars that were fun to drive, I've had cars that were a pain to drive. I've had cars that were exciting to drive. This is the first car I've ever driven that's a PLEASURE to drive. I end my commute more relaxed and calm than when I started it, a first.

Car has had no problems, mechanical issues or otherwise. And it's just gorgeous.
