1988 Jaguar XJ6 3.6L
Summary:
This car is a fantastic luxury bargain!
Faults:
To say at the very least, the 1988 Jaguar XJ6 - 4 door sedan is quite a find. I wanted to replace my other car, a 1989 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo, in wonderful condition, (124,000 miles on the engine) only because I needed a 4 door sedan instead of a 2 door coupe.
Also, I always wanted a Jaguar, in particular, the 1988 XJ6.
Upon buying the Jaguar XJ6 there were a few things to deal with such as it needed to have a new rack and pinion and also new front gas shocks installed.
The paint is very good with the exception of 5 "silver-dollar rust spots on the body panels due to the fact that the previous owner did not care for the body correctly, most likely during winter months. Which is a little confusing because the paint which is a beautiful glossy "British Racing Green" color looks fantastic otherwise.
I have also spent under $60.00 for new hub caps (the old caps' paint has faded off.
General Comments:
This car is 90% back to it's original condition from when it was new. I bought the car at about 75% original condition. After the body work is completed and the paint up to par, I will be showing it off more.
A very interesting thing is that where we live in Illinois, there have only been two instances in the last two years where I have seen this type of car.
Let me tell you, this Jaguar, even in it's present condition, which is good, is a real head-turner. People definitely look and are curious as to it's nature and what type of vehicle it is. Especially when I turn at a street corner.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Don't forget the low brake pressure problems these cars are notorious for. Needless to say, repair can get rather costly.
